[i]Two of Trower’s students win six-foot tall trophies in Baltimore

BALTIMORE, Md. - Grandmaster Elton Trower recently traveled with his students to the 23rd annual Maryland Open International Martial Arts Tournament. The tourney was hosted by Master Apolo Lada.

Karen Smith, a brown belt, earned first place in the adult black belt division for creative breaking. She used a combination of concrete and wood, using hand, foot, arm and chin techniques.

Travis Stevens, also a brown belt, placed first in the under 17 year-old black belt division for creative breaking. He used a combination of concrete and wood using hand and foot techniques.

Both students did an outstanding performance and both received six-foot tall trophies.

The Karate Warriors Gym/Dojo in Melfa has children’s karate classes on Monday and Wednesday from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Also offered at the gym are classes in self defense, kickboxing, exercise and weight lifting.

I’ve been to that tournament twice… utter chaos. 6 foot tall trophies yea-one year they gave out “world belts”, basically weightlifting belts with several plastic medals glued on. sillly.

When they can explode a block of ice with their face, I’ll be impressed.

Creative breaking.
Thats where its at.

Looks like creative kata might just be a tad cooler though!!!
