Top 5 Street effective styles?

Just wondering what everyone considered to be the most effective fighting styles in a real street fight scenario. I’ve heard people talk up and down about Krav Maga, but I’m still waiting for someone to catch it on tape (Israeli security forces using it or something similar).

In spite of what some other web-sites would have you believe, we here at Bullshido.net welcome you, Cefter51, with open arms and hope that you will share with us your unique experiences and ideas on the martial arts… so that we may then make fun of those experiences and ideas.

1 BJJ
2Muay Thai
3wrestling
4Boxing
5Judo

not in that particular order.

1. BJJ
2. BJJ
3. BJJ
4. Judo
5. BJJ

Yeah, those are probably my top five too. I’m currently taking some BJJ classes, but I want to supplement it with Muay Thai as soon as possible.

Yo do know this has been asked many times before and there are already plenty of threads about, which you will find using the search function.

rhetoric and etiquette, track and field, chick-chick-boom…

1. Wing Chun
2. Aikido
3. Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu
4. Taekwondo
5. SCARS
1. Joe Son Doe
2. SAFTA
3. Dragonball Z
4. Hapkido
5. Real Shotokan
1. MMA
2. Muay Thai
3. Boxing
4. Judo
5. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

I put it in the order that I did because I figure striking is a tad bit more important in a street fight and because throwing is probably preferable to outright groundfighting.

I agree with this, but it doesn’t make five.
• Geography and demographics
• Rhetoric and etiquette
• Gun-fu
• Numeric superiority
• Track and field
...Or something of that order, perhaps?
• Nothing can stand up to you if you crosstrain capoeira and sumo. 600 pounds of flab flying at you feet first, upside down.

To the OP, I’m going go ahead and recommend ‘weathering the storm’. It’s the cheapest and easiest way to go, and you don’t have to any training at all!

Guns, germs, steel, and you can do whatever the hell you want for the other two.

There’s really no martial arts that are “street effective” and martial arts that aren’t street effective. There’s effective ways to kick a guys ass, and there are not so effective ways to do it.

With the possible exception of ground fighting (encase other attackers appear, and kick you while your down), anything that will beat an person in one location, will beat them in another.

it’s not like there’s some martial arts for “the mountaintops” and some for “the sea” and some for “the streets” and some for “the ring”.

You may train with a greater focus on street defence (like krav maga), but at the end of the day, it’s all just beating someone up.

So, whatever the top 5 martial arts are, are the top 5 most effective street effective martial arts.

I would agree with all but maybe #4. I would probably have judo as my #6

That’s what I was thinking too at first, but Judo is such a nice complement to BJJ I thought I’d put it at #4.

Yes and listing judo in your top five with the other GREAT ones, is a nice complement to judo also, so I guess I would have to agree it’s only right!

1)SAMBO
2)CAMbO
3)SOMBO
4)SAMOZ
5)capoiera

OOPOss!! Newbietown! Hey, I like what Han090 said  kthxbai

4. Ving Chun
5. Ving Tsun
6. Wyng Tjun
7. Wing Tcun
8. Ving Tcun

And they all exist.
