Thumb in the Ass, Thumb in the Throat

I’d like to see you politely explain something after having someone pull a bitch move on you out of left field.

Personally, I would have put my thumbs in his eye sockets, but KaH doesn’t have my temper.

AFTER A FUCKING THROAT GRAB!? Why not just punish him for using such a crappy move? That way, he’ll never do it again and he gets his comeupeance.

He was in KaH’s guard, right? Can you say Armbar?

Depends on how strong your fingers and hands are and how you grab the throat as how nasty it is. This highlights the subjectivity in judging the effectiveness of moves.

I’ve had someone claw grab my larynx (not the whole throat) while trapping my arm. It was like having my throat cartelidge in a vice and was a painful and pretty scary experience. He had very strong claw like hands and could have crushed my throat. I tapped out, then learned how to defend it safely.

Another time I was grabbed around the whole neck by someone and pinned to a wall so that I couldnt put my feet on the ground that didnt give the same choke affect because it was over a larger area and didnt use the same finger intensity. But was effective all the same for different reasons.

During sushi. I told you so. Bite me all of you.

And so how would you react now if somebody grabbed your throat?

Look, guys. I think what this comes down to is that alot of people see this as a “Bitch move” but personally, I’m gonna side with Ricco on this one.

Yes ma’am.

Can you say, “what the fuck is this shit, goddamn, get this kid off me before I murder him”?

The thumb in the ass analogy is spot on. Both are stupid moves that engender an angry response when you’re not expecting to have them done to you. And in both cases you can chose to stop the sparring session, or beat the fuck out of the person who pulled that crap.

You’re arguing a subjective response to having someone blatantly violate the rules agreed on before sparring. It’s asinine. You, personally, might sit down and take them out for tea and crumpets while you explain in detail the proper rules.

Everyone is not you, however.

It’s a poor analogy because a throat grab will almost always leave you very vulnerable for a quick, crisp, clean, helio approved, fight ending, nutritious counter move which anyone with KaH’s skill should be able to apply.

A thumb in the ass, whilst being very comical, is a much less ambiguos move seeing as it is illegal in all forms of combat competition (bar turkish wrestling).

It’s a poor analogy because a throat grab will almost always leave you very vulnerable for a quick, crisp, clean, helio approved, fight ending, nutritious counter move which anyone with KaH’s skill should be able to apply.

The fact that it leaves one open for counter attacks has nothing to do with the analogy’s accuracy.

All this coming from a guy who also has no problem hitting someone while they’re down in a “friendly” match.

Is trollshido really the place for this?

We are discussing whether the thumb in the throat is a legitimate setup or a bitch move, what makes this trollshido worthy?

Seeing as people are taking throat grabs way too seriously around here, I believe it is my duty to provide you all with a CHE (Crappy-Hapkido-Escape)

Here Craig has attacked Murray with a leg sweep takedown and subsequently a double choke on the ground (side on to the throat). A defence against this, which Murray demonstrates, is to trap Craig’s hands, then knee to chest, and then his other leg over around Craig’s throat. From this position Craig may be rolled over and an arm bar submission hold applied.

Now AJJ members can rejoice, for no-longer do they have to fear this street-lethal (and not at all crappy and ridiculous) attack.

OH SHIT LOOKOUT!

IF ONLY I’D LEARNT TO DEFEND AGAINST CHOKES!

It’s in Trollshido because you’re being fucking obtuse and purposefully ignoring the fact that thumbing someone in the throat in the middle of an informal mma sparring match would generally piss a lot of people off, enough to want to stop the session before retaliating with equal, unfriendly force.

If you’d like, start a thread in the Techniques section about reasonable responses to having a thumb jammed in your throat during MMA sparring.

You don’t see what was the big deal, but you weren’t the one the bullshit was pulled on, and are obviously just arguing for the sake of being contrary. You’re also turning this into an “AJJ” thing as well, which is irrelevant to how anyone would react to being attacked with a technique that’s not acceptable under the agreed on sparring ruleset.

In other words, you’re being a douchebag.

That’s why it’s in Trollshido.

Well gee, look at that. It is legal in MMA competition:

Question: is it legal in grappling or MMA or NHB or whatever, to jam your forearm in your opponents’ throat?

Yes. Always.

Thanks.

It’s also against ISKA MMA rules, which are the ones used here in the midwest.

So you still don’t have a fucking point. There are no rules against sticking your thumb in several places, but if you do it violently in a friendly sparring match with the intention of doing serious harm, it’s going to piss people off.
