There is one important factor that has been ignored in this discussion, and that is what if you are in a motorcycle accident, you don’t have helmet on your head, your body is flying and rotating in the air, you don’t know the ground condition, and you don’t know which part of your body will hit on the ground first. Do you have the luxury to use your break fall? The most important thing that you may have in your mind at that moment is to hope that your head (since you don’thave helmet on) won’t hit on the hard ground and crack you skull. Whether you will get some broken limbs, or internal injury may not be your 1st concern. You may want to use your arms to protect your head as much as possible, and you may not be able to do a perfect break fall at that moment.
You only have 2 arms. If you use one arm to slap the ground, you will have one less arms to protect your head. So what will be your choice? Besides when your body is rotating in the air, you may not know where the ground is.
Also when you are falling on the ground, there may have some debris flying in the air from that accident. If you don’t want any debris to fall on top of your head, it may be wise to cover your head with one of your arms. By using a perfect break fall, you will expose your head to the sky and falling objects which may not be a good idea.
So if you use one arm to protect your head from touching the ground (between your head and the ground), at the same time you use another arm to protect your head from the falling objects (between your head and the sky), where will you be able to find yourself the 3rd arm to slap on the ground?
The only time you should be using your break-fall in a motorcycle accident is if you fell while walking towards it. Otherwise, you should be praying to whatever God you believe in as quickly as possible instead.
The original thread was discussing how to use Judo break fall to “prevent accident (unpredictable)” and not talking about been thrown on the mat (predictable). The Judo break fall will not be able to prevent accident in such “unpredictable” situation.

I would like to see that too. I don’t think a perfect break fall will even be possible to do at that moment.
So then you’d agree that if you don’t think it’s possible to do a breakfall while running at a top speed, than trying to attempt one while flying off a moving vehicle would be a silly question to bring up in the first place?
