They should do another Pride Fighting video game

Seriously, we got UFC and EA Sports MMA…Now I want Pride Fighting. Can you imagine Sakuraba vs Royce? Cro Cop vs Fedor? Don Frye OMG!

Additional notes on new Pride Fighting game

I had one of the Pride games for PS2 and it was good but the create character mode was the shit. UFC’s undisputed character mode is a piece of shit. Here are some of the highlights of the Pride game create character mode.

You can choose every single attack move. From striking, clinch, take downs, gnp, submission. You even choose their stance, how they walked, intro move, and celebration move.

Striking: You could create basically any combination imaginable. Every move is available, from spinning back fists to flying knees and spinning back kicks. You program attacks from standing, advance, and retreat. For hands, say you wanted to start with a basic jab, you could add a 5 hit combo to the jab. Say you choose to start with a right lead jab, you could then add punches and kicks from left to right, in any order. You could do a right jab-left cross-left front kick-right knee-left back hand-finish with a right high kick. You would program attacks for both hands and both feet, so for standing, advance, and retreat, you would program combos starting with the right hand, left hand, right leg, left leg.

Clinch and takedowns: They basically had every style to choose from. You could go from a grapple to muay thai knees, to judo throw!

GNP: Same with the striking, you could create all types of crazy combos, or do basic strikes that are all power. You could generate combos using any strike imaginable to the head and body.

Submissions: Everything!

The character design was a little basic but you could use gi’s so I made Ken and Ryu and their moves matched.

cool game

That game looks cool. Is it called pride fc, and can I order it from amazon?:icon_sad:

Weird thing, PRIDE’s initial US presence (what with the DVDs and PPVs that no one really paid attention to) was meant to be a loss leader for that PS2 game.

Best part about that game

Making a fighter with all of his points in striking, then knocking people out from the bottom of mount.

Best part of that game was being able to give your fighter two different kinds of chi wave attack. It’s super slow, but it breaks your opponent’s guard and does tons of damage.

Japan is awesome.

Isn’t EA MMA gonna have Pride rules and venues available? It’s already got a ton of former Pride fighters, what else do you want?

Sounds like too much of a good thing. The character creation in Undisputed was pretty lousy in the overarching “why does this all look exactly the same” way, but micromanaging down to each strike sounds like overkill. I appreciate being able to create a unique character, but I don’t want to spend 4 hours doing it.

I may pick up Pride FC used, since I’m trying to get as much life as possible out my PS2. Looking at that video, though, I can tell how much I’ve been spoiled by Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution.

As far as fighter creation modes are concerned, all a developer needs to do is add Pride FC’s combo editor to the world-beating fighter creation mode from Fire Pro Wrestling. I couldn’t give two shits about professional wrestling, but Fire Pro Wrestling will go down in video game history as the series that defined “attention to detail.” In fact, I might just have to pick up Fire Pro Wrestling Returns on the same order with Pride FC.

I have this game still. I rented it when it first came out when i was in high school and got hooked to it. I took my copy to Japan with me and turned a bunch of my friends on to it in the barracks having tournaments. Its a fun ass game, I dont have my PS2 anymore but i kept the game just cause its awesome.
