Just for the record I’m beyond your worst nightmare. Try doing a little research and you will uncover some “interesting” factoids regarding guys my age and their younger counter-parts … we stack up very well within a wide range of activities.

Total misperception on your part. I’ll help you this one time and that’s it. Any MA system - style is a vehicle and nothing more. Like your car … you can pretty much go where ever there is a road.
Some MA systems - styles have a very pronounced Buddhist or Taoist component to them. In a sense, the MA vehicle is not really a “martial” vehicle save for in the early goings.
Such systems have “personal cultivation” or “Spiritual development” as their root concern. The question then becomes “What shall be my ultimate and primary use of this thing I have?” Usually, a person is confronted with this question after a decade or so of walking the Path. The physical skills are in place, the mental - emotional adjustments have been made … and now the Path splits.
There are exactly 2 Paths a person must chose from … the choice, once made, is “carved in stone” … there is no looking back or second guessing. Make the choice, put your feet on the Path and never look back.
I made my choice and it was not the one that led to personal cultivation or Spiritual development. Both Paths have a specific name and the name, for once in something TCMA, means exactly the same as the words indicate … no metaphor, no poetic meaning to be decoded … a clean, clear statement of what the chosen Path really is.

I think its pathetic you would expect a fighter to accept the financial risk should you reneg on the deal eg. EA lose and you not cough up any cash. If you want a betting pool organise it yourself.
