Thai Wushu star turns to boxing for another gold
By Indo Asian News Service
The princess will doubtless be watched with great eagerness, but Thai boxer Angkarn Chomphuphuang, too, will have his fans queuing up. In an amazing decision, Angkarn has moved from Wushu to boxing. He won a gold medal in Wushu in 2002 Busan Asian Games, and is now attempting to become the first man to win gold medals in two different disciplines in successive Games.
Interestingly, Angkarn came into Wushu from ‘Muay Thai’ - Thai kickboxing - where he was a champion. He took to the Chinese martial art, Wushu, and won the gold medal. Now he wants to go back to boxing, which he says is his first love.
The Thai Wushu team interestingly has many former Muay Thai boxers.
