Sweep the leg!

I was just perusing Youtube and found this video:

Now, while Karate Kid inspired HUGE interest in LARPing, it also fueled the dreams of more serious artists in a period when boxing was king. Suck it up and confess, who else was inspired by Pat Morita and Ralph Machio?

me me me

[trying to just post ‘me’ got me insulted]

I wasn’t so much from the karate kid era as the golden age of kung fu…

That was pretty good until that Pizza Rocker guy started fagging it up

Not me, I never even heard of the karate kid when I was younger. My inspiration came from the ninja turtles and “Kung Fu: The Legend Continues” series.

I was more into Big Trouble in Little China. That lightning guy was damn cool.

i always was more of a cobra kai guy when i was a kid… fuck mr. miagi

You should study with Dillman then, he’s on the verge of being able to use Chi lightning.

Watching the movie somewhat recently, I remember thinking that the Cobra Kai sensei was a pretty cool guy.

Guilty as charged. I think I even slept in my new gi a few times (I was a bad ass karate kid too!). we had just bought one of teh new bideo tape machines and hired it as a new release. I must have watched it 4 times before taking it back teh next day, and dad hired it out a few more times.

shame.

but the movie sure did show me an out, and through it my dad put me through Kempo, and from there I never looked back. and my enemies were big black guys, so Ralph was a pussy really as far as I was concerned.:thebirdma

but hey, we were all noobs once. (and hope we still arent lol)

ya, i got my MA seed planted into my impressionable little head with power rangers and ninja turtles. Now the ninja turtles i still maintain to this day as supreme badasses, but the power rangers… for that I am forever shamed

My inspiration for larping came from Van Damme movies…Kickboxer and Bloodsport in particular…

Shame I could never find a Muay Thai school when I was like…11…otherwise I wouldn’t have wasted 11 years of my life when I discovered MMA and took up BJJ/Muay Thai…
