Another poster said something about “street gangs being a 24/7 life”. This is my response.
The culture of street gangs is based on drama like “being in a street gang is a 24/7 thing”. That is inaccurate in almost all cases and is simply an example of the “everything’s for appearance” mentality which breeds the filth that run with gangs.
I was a ranking member of the Young Guns in Detroit, MI from about 91 to 93. I’m ganglisted by “Big 4” (Gang Squad). As a matter of fact, I was even assaulted by them (not anally, thank you). One season we were at “war” with the Cobras. Next season, Cash Flow Possie. The next, Latin Counts and CFP. One month “Folks” (Cobras and allies), the next month “Family” (LC and allies). The next, who knows? It was all Drrrrammmmaaaaa! We were a bunch of low-lifes with so little going on that we made up bullshit like “livin’ this shit is 24/7”.
We called it “war”. However, all that meant is that one of my buddies talked to another guy’s girlfriend at that pool hall…now we’re all going to fight…it was just an excuse to fight.
There are no big gang wars over turf…In our sixteen block or so area, if some enterprising dirt-ball wanted to start a crack house, there were plenty of abandoned houses in which to do so…you didn’t have to move into an abandoned house in the next territory…there were plenty of hookers walking Springwells to sell to.
Glorifying being a “gangster” with all the bullshit about “family”, “living this shit”, “down for mine” or any of the many drama filled phrases that have no basis in reality should be left in the dust…they are what lead some of us to that stupid shit. Don’t believe the hype.
If one gang member shoots or kills another, it’s not because rules were violated, it’s because the one didn’t like the other. That’s it. Maybe the excuse of rule violation is called on. However, in the t3h r34L world of str33t g4ngs, it’s just like your job. The jack ass who eveyrone hates gets fired for the same stupid thing you’ve been doing for the last two years.
I had a few fellow members die. I’ve had a few shot. Interstingly, the one’s who were shot aren’t the one’s who died. More than anything, I know a lot of guys who went to prison…because that’s where the bad motherfuckers go.
You see, the cops do their jobs. The crazy motherf… who you hear about biting off someone’s ear? (That was my cliques founder and president when he wasn’t in jail.) They’re so stone cold that they don’t make it that long. You can only do so many drive-by’s before someone snitches you out…because it’s all bullshit!!!
That’s another point of bullshit. There’s no code of silence!!! Sure, that’s what they say! But I’ve had more than one flake sitting across from me who just got released after being caught in a stolen car saying “they took fingerprints and since mine were only in the backseat…”. On cloth? Surrrrre.

To anyone who has any opinion an gangs, let me tell you what it is. It’s just a bunch of losers who hang out together. I think “LARPers” is the term. It’s all make-believe-hard-core. Proof is in the pudding. The bad motherfuckers are in prison.
Hell, even in Detroit, the biggest threat we ever had was one of the guys who was “down” had a shoot-out with one of the “Highwaymen” (a real Hell’s Angels type biker club) at the cross-streets of our territory. No houses were shot up after that. No one did anything. None of our crew went shooting them up. None of their crew came to us. WTF? Steet gangs are 24/7 my ass.
News reporters and Sean Penn (Colors) don’t know shit about street gangs. I’m calling Bullshit on you. You’ve been hypnotized.
