So, I'm looking to join the army

Vinh, a partner of mine went directly into an Intel position as an officer in the Navy Reserves. You may want to look into that.

You’re going to need thick skin if you join the military.

You better be prepared to laugh when you witness shit that will send most people running for antidepressants.

Yeah bro, they’re gonna fuck with you. Nothing is sacred. I once had to take a shower after the rest of my platoon because I had KP and the water was COLD as FUCK. As I was turning off the shower my Drill Sergeant called “Toe the Line” which meant I had to be in the bay YESTERDAY. As I went running out to the bay my towel fell off, and there I was with the most shriveled dick you’ve ever seen.

The classy thing to do would have been to ignore it, but noooooooo! The DS decided my new name would be “needle dick the bug fucker” and the whole platoon laughed at me. I didn’t even get a chance to tell him it was a grower or explain about the shower.

Yeah, thick skin. They will take your personal flaw, amplify it, then twist it around until it’s funny.

You could probably do the same thing in the Army Reserves or National Guard too. Reserve component works a lot different than active duty and they tend to guarantee a lot more because of it.

What? That’s not even funny or witty. That’s just extremely infantile. If I’d have been there, every time the DS said that, I’d feel like the DS is insulting himself for acting like an 8th grader, instead of insulting you. The act of making an issue of something like that is an act of self-pwnage. That’s honestly how I feel. I don’t think I’d feel capable of feeling put down or insulted over something like that because it’s so extremely 8th grade and a complete non-issue.

TAG??

Dempsey speaks truth. I recommend taking my MOS if you think you can stomach language school and don’t mind being in training for . . . ever. Even if you already speak another language or two that the Army will pay you for, why not grab another, and get your clearance at the same time.

If you do choose to enlist, I would suggest 35M, 35N, or 35P. Definitely stay away from the 35F MOS. Those guys are fucking dumb.

Or you can say the hell with learning a language and go with my former MOS 35G. Geospatial / Imagery analysts get paid the most in the civilian sector. Avoid HUMINT (35M) unless you like being lied to and shot at.

I wouldn’t be going into the army really for career development as much as for an idea of service… I just also want them to pay for law school if i can possibly get it in.

the reason i’m not going to go in with just a BA is because i’m already in a BAMA 5 year program that I’m finishing in 4.

I do have thick skin. but I don’t take shit either unless I have to. i’m vietnamese, i understand the concept of shit coming from above.

what’s the problem with being in training for a long time? if not intelligence or humint, what other MOS would you suggest that would be likely for me to get?

what background would i need to go pilot or imagery specialists?

what is 35m, 35n, 35p and 35f as MOSs?

Decent eye site and depth-perception would qualify you for both pilot and imagery analyst. HUMINT is short for Human Intelligence and it falls under 35M, sorry I should have clarified. I have worked with HUMINT guys in the past and I wouldn’t really recommend it anyone.

Pilot (Avaition Corps) is a very-hard-to-get combat arms branch. Your best be there is to go through ROTC and sign an extended service contract to get that particular branch. There are also a great deal of medical considerations that can DQ you from that branch, so do take care to get yourself checked out beforehand if you want to pursue this.

Imagery is an enlisted function. Officers handle broad and general aspects of their branch.

Shit thats nothing.

NEVER be found wearing purple draws passed out drunk in the latrine during a deployment.

Just saying.

I do have thick skin. but I don’t take shit either unless I have to.

This’ll be interesting.

Okay, give. I’ve gotta hear this…:laughing8

Christ man, did they ever send you to WOCS? I’m almost out of training, for god’s sake!

You’re going to have massive pecs if you take that kind of attitude into the Army

Vinh, please give me a call if you’re seriously thinking about this.

All I’m going to say is, Front leaning rest position…move.
