You don’t have to make someone run away to be defensive. You assume a lot. It also seems like you haven’t been in many altercations. That’s just my perception. You don’t have to touch someone to be defensive. Or self defense. If someone is stepping toward you, in a threatening manner, or attempts to strike you, and you throw a cigarette in their face or blow smoke in their face, it may give you the opportunity to distract him enough to run away. Thus using your cigarette in a valid method of self defense. Accompanied with other techniques like running. You could also use it to distract and then dump the dude on his head.
I never said burn them in the face and watch them run away. You assumed what I was talking about and you assumed my strategy. You should try to assume less in the future.
You ever shine a flashlight in someone’s eyes? Also good for self defense.
This was what you said
Then I said
To which your reply was
So after that,
Weren’t we talking about the act of smoking itself? All of these quotes refer to the act of only smoking and not " throwing a cigarette in their face or blowing smoke in their face in order to get away". That is why I said that smoking sends you to your grave faster and has no self defense value. Taking a cigarette and then using it “in a defensive” manner AFTER smoking is not the same as the act of taking a smoke.
Later on I again referred to the act of smoking(and ONLY the act of smoking)
In fact here I did not assume that that was your strategy. I was only pointing out one of the ways in which a cigarette couldn’t be used for self defense. But if you really want to skip all that and talk about using a cigarette as a self defense item, then I can say that the ways that you mentioned like throwing a cigarette or blowing smoke may not produce the desired results as well.

Yeah, I mean why would we be talking about self defense? Oh wait, this is a site about martial arts, in a thread about martial arts. You trying to talk about smoking. There are lots of parallels to the things being discussed. Yes, I do think jiu-jitsu is an addictive habit. I never said it has no defensive value. You made that bullshit up for some reason. Jiujitsu can harm you in ways that smoking can’t. And in some ways worse. Lets not forget that smoking doesn’t cause problems in everyone. You keep trying to talk in absolutes. Their are way too many variables in all the things you are discussing to be talking in absolutes. But you seem to not get that. I haven’t committed to any absolutes in relation to this discussions. I know better. You don’t. Like I said, you assume too much.
You said “getting people addicted and sending them faster to the grave is of no defensive value.” Most people don’t pick up a cigarette intending to get addicted. Some may, most don’t. They do it for other reasons. So I wasn’t sure who you were referring to. The smoker who didn’t intend to get addicted, the smoker who did, or the manufacturer who arguable did intend to get them addicted.
But really, who gives a shit about smoking? lol What are you even trying to argue? Do you know?

You brought up smoking first. Had you not brought it up I wouldn’t be talking about it. I was talking about self defense first regarding boxing.

You compared it to smoking so I’m asking you if you think it has no defensive value.

And you are not assuming? You said that you bet I thought smoking is healthy.

What am I trying to argue? I was trying to argue about boxing not being the greatest martial art of all time when you came in and said a totally out of the blue.

The point was most normal people can best mitigate being attacked by avoidance strategies, exiting dangerous situations, and failing the first two, firearms, rather than hand to hand combat training.
Wabbit confirmed as Awesomeg.
Just to let you know, Mike: I didn’t start the KF thread candidate on you and I tried to stop it. Alas, my voice did not prevail.
Can you provide a link to posts you made on Kiwi Farms that are timestamped that show you tried to discourage the Kiwi Farms community from targeting him?
And a link that shows who on Kiwi Farms started the thread candidate on him?
What doesn’t being a target in their threads actually mean ?
WRabbit was/is a bit of a knob but he is hardly public about it off forums to my knowledge so I’m not sure why somebody would make him the subject of anything ?

Those posts aren’t publicly visible.
Fortunately, it looks like only one person wanted to move on him, and everyone else is making fun of him for it. Gaze into the abyss, etc. More than one Kiwi has become a lolcow in exactly this way.

Why would this new KF user think he would get rep and status from any matter pertaining to Rabbit?
