Anyone heard of…
Comments, opinions?
Not so much opposite, but complimentary to each other. We don’t do Tendo Ryu… We do generic Jujitsu… We brought in some JJ instructors to teach some basics and many of our dan ranks went out and learned Judo, Aikijitsu, etc. I wouldn’t say we have a comprehensive JJ curriculum, so I consider my black belt to be in Tang Soo Do, not TSD and Jujitsu. I do have a working knowledge of the techniques though. I just wished we trained in a more “live” environment with the JJ.
Anyone is welcome to come check us out, we have an open door policy and you might be suprised at some of the quality instructors we have.
Why don’t they let you look at the instructor page? Curious.
What the hell… if you can’t post more than 10 words about something it doesn’t deserve its own thread.
If you’re not completely turned off by TMA then the place looks alright.
(plumbers’ as a rule are turned off by tma)
I did like the “get off your pedastal and teach” comment
M949…it doesn’t look all that special to me, just another Joe Blow Karate (oh, I’m sorry…TSD) Dojo…with a study in some un-named Jujutsu style.
Seems very blah to me…check it out though…that’s the only way to truly know.
And if you do, as which Jujutsu Ryu he’s teaching…I’m genuinely curious.
Why do they call it Thompson Karate if they teach TSD and Jujitsu
Kink, a lot of Korean TKD and TSD places do that around here…they’ll say “karate” on the ad or building…and then it’ll be TKD, TSD, or some sort of bastardized Hapkido…because everyone knows what Karate is I gather…it’s more of a magnet to the martially uneducated.
Kyoketsu,
They teach Tendo ryu.
Tendo Ryu…
hmmm…heard of, but have never seen.
I just do not see Jujutsu (overall, not just Tendo Ryu) gelling well with TSD…sounds like a bad mix to me.
TSD- very fast, rather wimpy kicks and a lot of showboating. Lots of emphasis on speed, power, and poor body alignment.
Jujutsu- (and I realize I’m generalizing) should emphasize flow and proper angling and footwork for positional dominance over speed and strength, and a much tighter range of contact as it should use joint locks, throws and both offensive and defensive Ukemi…
It just does NOT sound like a good mix to me, they’re completely and totally opposite of one another, in both method and mentality.
