I have read lots on this forum now and there is some great information and views.
It seems to me that alot of people on this site are more sports fighters than martial artists
But I am not even sure I know what a martial art is anymore.
The confusion is still here though… the sports fighters vs the Martial artists
A traditional martial artist will poke in the eye… rip the bollox off… snap the arm or kick the knee out.
A sports fighter would probably FIGHT as he would in a competition.
I am not looking for flames just some feedback
I am guessing a sports fighter has to learn alot more techniques than a martial artist ( one hit one kill, break etc )
We see all these BJJ vs kempo/Karate or what ever… but the kempo/karate people are limited in there output due to the fact that there are “RULES”
In a fight I would agree that alot of these MMA schools would destroy the more traditional martial arts. But in a life or death ( situation ( which is probably the only time I would be prepared to use physical force ) it could be a different story.
Are you prepared to Rip an Arm right out of the socket ?
Originally TMA trained, fought, and competed in tournaments, school stormings, and death duels.
Sport fighting is a word TMAers cling to, in an attempt to differentiate between their shitty training methods and MMA methods. No not all TMA trains shitty but it is a large amount.
If you can fight in your dojo with rules you can fight in the ring with rules.
