This is exactly what I thought the first time I saw Kyokushin: TKD done RIGHT for a change.
It’s also amazing to note the difference that results from differing philosophies.
ITF TKD matches permit punches to the head, and no body armour, but somehow when guys get in there, it looks like karate point-sparring with all the ridiculous wild jumping punches and shitty defence.
Kyokushin has similar rules, disallowing head punches in competition but allowing low kicks, and you see guys just going toe-to-toe and belting the crap out of each other. This I can only attribute to Kyokushin philosophy and fighting spirit, because on face value the techniques trained in both arts aren’t that far apart.
Similar rules, but the arts are worlds apart in terrms of execution. Kyokushin is the art I would have done if I could find a dojo that doesn’t cost $180 a month.

Kyokushin is Japanese Muay Thai subtract punches to the face.
If you really think that those punches were nice and powerful watch espn fights and tell me what you think of those punches. And don’t get me started on wing chun punches. I think they are the same as any other styles punch. They suck if you don’t do them properly, and they are nice if executed properly. So lay off of the wc sucks stuff with me. I don’t care who does a sorry punch, it’s still sorry. If it’s nice it’s nice no matter the style.
And the proper way to throw powerful punches is like a boxer.

Frankly I don’t think I could compete on most of those guys level that go to those tournis. Am I ashame to tell the truth on that, no. But unlike most on this board I respect most styles of ma including wing chun. You on the other hand have taken a qoute from me about taking up a challenge, wrongly in this case but whatever. I have challenge everybody on this board who hates wing chun sooo much many times to go to your nearest wc school and challenge the instructor to prove wing chun “ain’t” nothing. Now how many ppl here are up to that challenge, keyboard masters? If you read my post, I said those guys didn’t display any outstanding punches. Not their style has no outstanding punches. As a matter of fact I’m sure that those guys may very well be able to deliver some devastating blows, it just didn’t show in that clip.
