I know this thread is dead basically but I go to this Mma gym and you’re all being very unfair IMO, I pay 70 euro a month for unlimited classes and I can tell you all the coaches are very good and we do real Mma classes, bjj, stand up, takedowns, the lot. That 990 euro or however much it was, was for a private, 1 on 1 training camp with a pro Mma fighter, look him up, fights for bamma in the UK, again I know this thread is pretty much dead but when I came across this and saw my club portrayed in such a negative way I felt I had to defend it, Edi.

Defend it with what? This thread is nearly four years can you add or refute any of the previous claims?
Wing Chun is very close range of fighting system that simple, direct and efficient. This system of martial arts is characterized by simple hand techniques, low line kicking, uncomplicated footwork and direct straight line striking.

Last time he was meant to fight in Ireland against a fighter on debut which was about 1 year ago he pulled out because word got out the lad was decent, at the time of the rip off seminars he was not an Mma fighter either, since then he has been fighting really bad opposition and avoiding the Irish fighters who know of him, he can’t just get easy fights over here
Look it’s not an Mma club, they never fight and he runs in house fights with each other to make them think there fighters, that’s called sparring in any other club!
Untill they compete and show there actually an Mma gym there just a kick boxers gym screwing people for money with false claims
Well Robert Devane does actually fight in MMA rules matches, there’s footage of him in BAMMA on his youtube channel. Does he have to be a ranked BJJ practitioner to teach the grappling aspect of MMA? No, the proof should be in the pudding - if he wins fights and is on the circuit then that should be enough. Once he doesn’t state that he is actually teaching BJJ.
That said, if you want to learn quality BJJ in Dublin you either go to SBG or BJJ Revolution. Both of those clubs and their affiliates also produce most of the best MMA fighters too. I found some interesting vids of his applications to The Ultimate Fighter. The first vid shows some training, the second shows more comp footage.
The website is horrible and the rates are ridiculous but he seems like a legit fighter. The ‘learn to be an MMA fighter in 4 weeks’ is the first McDojo sales pitch Iv’e ever seen in Ireland with the exception of some ‘ninjutsu’ places but then again, he has a very tongue in cheek approach as evidenced in the above vids.
Here’s his own personal site by the way.

I was under the impression that he took a fight after he was called out for teaching MMA with no qualifications and no ring experience. I don’t think he’s an active competitor either, maybe I have that wrong.
There’s no mention that I can see on the website saying that they teach BJJ, but here we have someone claiming to be a student there learning BJJ. Can we clear this up?
Re boards.ie taking down the thread (mentioned a few pages back) - it’s my understanding that you are legally entitled to have defaming comments and personal information (including any posts you might have made) removed from a public forum or website that is hosted in Ireland. There was a load of hoopla about ratemysoliticor.com a while back, basically a site where anonymous posters shit talked lawyers, the firms mentioned could do nothing about it even though it was an Irish owned and run site because the site was hosted in the US. This sparked off a load of articles in the papers here about your rights to privacy online and the differences between various countries. I’m no legal expert but that’s my understanding as to why boards.ie removed the post and allow zero mention of martialartsinc.com on their forums.
Just to address an inaccuracy:
Rob Devane has done some MMA. He had a fight in Newcastle a while ago. Here’s his record:

Here’s the guy he fought:

Pics or it didn’t happen!:

Whether people want to train with him is of course a matter of personal choice.
It was established in 2009 that Devane fought. We don’t need a rehash of the stuff already discussed.
Rates are too high and at least one teacher has fought MMA.

That test card used to freak me out as a kid. I now have a fear of clowns.
Thanks for bringing all the memories back.

Thankfully the quote function allows me to screen such things. Clown.gif indeed.

And where the hell did this come from? Random drive-by chunning of the thread?
No thread is complete until the _un has been mentioned.

Yeah pretty much. Did it in about three threads exactly the same message and than got banned.
I saw a drive by bottleing once. I think there is something very Australian about that.
