This year it’s my turn to create a pet-themed thread that’ll wither away with time.
So, after several years of dreaming about it, I’ve got myself 2 young Extatosoma tiaratum.
They originate from Australia - local Bullshido members, anybody has these in their garden?
I named them Frida and Kahlo.
They only eat leaves of bramble (I’ll try to get them Eucalyptus leaves at the botanical garden here), they don’t need males to reproduce and are generally very zen. Also, they’re quite and don’t lose hair. Ideal pets. Not for too much caressing though, might be uncomfortable.
I’ve yet have to make good photos of them, since they’re small, moving between the twigs I placed in their plastic home + I suck in photograpping. I’ll update.
But this is how they’re going to look when they grow up:
My wife - who starts scratching herself by just hearing the word ‘insect’ - hates me now. I keep thinking: is she going to murder them or me first one night, while we sleep?
P.S.
She actually loves me, because she didn’t throw me nor Frida and Kahlo out.
Can’t have dogs in New York City. It’s pretty much cruel and unusual punishment unless you’re loaded enough to have space for them and a yard. Either that or the kind of life that allows you to spend lots of time with them.
But if I could have one, it’d be one of these little guys:
shes a lover, not a fighter, but also a fighter, so dont get any ideas. She is a poor watch dog, never barks, doesnt alert me to danger. but wants to kill anything under 20lbs. i nthe passed 6 months she has destroyed 2 cats, 1 racoon and one opposum
