Oh, silly me. I didn’t realise this was from the nanny state, in which case, guns bad, constant surveilance and big brother good.
All three are legal. There’s also something called the first amendment. Furthermore, the line between porn/dating/info/lifestyle can be blurred.
El Macho mentioned swingers sites and clubs. I would guess that most of what is posted in the profiles/ads would likely qualify to many as “pornographic”. What if the teacher in question ran a gay advocacy site giving detailed information, faq’s, diagrams, photos of STD symptoms, and how-to’s? What about someone who is an artist’s model? What if someone is a performance artist or poses for erotic photography? What if someone writes erotic fiction, or, hell, fiction or non-fiction that contains sexual themes (ie the recent congressional election in Virginia where they candidate was trashed for describing something he actually saw in Vietnam)? What if someone talks about or debates any of these subjects? If it’s not addressed to minors or K-12 students -and especially if it is not accessible to them via a private profile or age limits- it should not be an issue.
Yeah, it’s on the internet and it could become public. Obviously, people should take this into account. But people can also dig through your garbage once it’s out on the curb, and people can hire a PI to follow where you go on Friday nights and photograph you in the “public” club. It’s “gotcha” crap and hypocrisy.
None of this should be an issue unless it is brought into the class. That happens from people not watching their own damn kids. Even in the case of someone who, lets say, writes a novel with “bad words” and S-E-X, unless they’re spamming it IRL to their students it shouldn’t make a difference. Someone shouldn’t lose their job and their first admendment rights because some kid’s father is a hypocrite wanker with a big mouth.
That wasn’t a Matrix pose, it was a Hitman pose.
I get the country wrong, I get the pose wrong… I fail.
Hahahah, I’d +rep you if I could for that avatar. Do you have a larger version of it by any chance?
I hate society. I also hate it when Cumdon makes threads having NOTHING TO DO WITH MA yet always claims that they do. Fuck him.
Well said. Thread won.
I’m going to disagree 100%.
As a professional, I have a certain image to maintain. Especially since I work with children. Posting pics of my dick online? That crosses any and every professional line I can think of. It’s not abut “s-e-x”. This isn’t a bad plotline from Tom Perrotta’s new book where a teacher gets in trouble for tellng people during sex ed class that “some people enjoy oral sex”.
It’s about maintaining a professional demeanor both in and out of my job. It’s difficult at best to maintain said demeanor if my clients start asking me questions about my dick size and sexual orientation when I’m trying to defend them in Court. The problem is that despite my best efforts to keep something like that out of my office or the Courtroom, if clients are aware that I’m moonlighting as an amateur porn star or engaging in other types of morally questionable behaviour, I’m not going to get the same respect from the bench or my clients.
I repeat my earlier statement. It’s one thing for me to pose online and show off the numerous tattoos I am very much proud of. It’s another to jack off online for tattoo fetishists for the low low price of $39.95 per month.
EDIT: Google Brian Buck for the reality of what you suggest. ASU student, BMOC, and frat boy who lost it all over a shower scene in a soft-core porn scene as part of a “scavenger hunt” and who ended up suing the prodcution company because his “life was ruined” and he couldn’t get into law school. Oh, yeah, he lost the lawsuit.
Professionalism ends when you leave work, unless you’re a total faggot, but judging by the name gangrelchilde, I’m not far from the mark on that one.
Sensationalism at its best. We are talking about a nerd making a fully clothed picture. Yet, here you sit trying to correlate it to porn.
I really tried to follow you but, the porn strawman is ridiculous.
oh come on dude it’s not like it says toredorchilde
Actually, go back a couple of posts. The “porn” was IronLurker’s idea, and ElMacho mentioned swinging. Those posts jumped out at me, I repsonded. shrug
You’re not. So fuck off. Me being queer is one of the worst-kept secrets in the universe.
I’d aggree with you, but the problem is that there are no mention of doing porno at all. The guy in question is posing fully clothed in a web page talking about his hobbies. My friend was keeping a photo log of salsa events. And the other example was about swinging, which is a lifestyle that most keep it private.
A person can, if he chooses to, meet with other adults in private premises (.ie. someone’s home or a swingers club) and have them shove oversized, mechanized dildos up his ass while wacking off “Dr. Queen, Medicine Woman”. I would not give a rat’s ass about that.
But if for some X/Y, those particular detals from that particular person came to light, that person could lose his job, and where is the sense or justice of that? A person’s private life is his private life. And that’s one example I provided, which has nothing to do with doing porn or showing one’s dick on the internet.
The guy in question didn’t do anything wrong. There is no way that a logical person can formulate a logical counter-argument to that. All there is left is emotion, bias and projection, plain and simple.
This could have easely have been handled by asking the instructor to tone down his webpage a little if they really felt it was not appropriate (notice that I say “felt” since this is still just based on emotions and bias). This was poorly handled by those who want to crucify him in the name of the children.
What a sad, pathetic example they are giving to the children they claim to protect.
Let’s just look at the pathetic, braindead piece of shit garbage these people are talking about:
"I can categorically state that this is not another ‘Columbine in the making’ and if I thought for a minute that a member of staff had posed with real guns I would have called the police.
Can someone fucking explain the logic behind that sentence? So a real gun is going to make a difference in a matrix-esque picture on someone’s website against bb-guns?
This is just emotion, bias, projection, and plain PC stupidity. The man didn’t do anything wrong, and his accusers are simply witch hunting in the name of professionalism. Nothing more, nothing less.
maybe its because oldman and I aren’t from the either coast but I agree. I’ve, in fact, gone shooting with a highschool teacher before.
Hell, my dad was actually on his high school’s varsity shooting team.
and he’s only murdered a couple of people.
From there, we go to the modern days of “Zero tolerance” which seems to mean “overreacting to meaningless threats while still missing the kids with real problems”
This teacher seems to care about bullying and have a good rapport with the kids - that’s more important to me than what he wears for halloween.
LMAO! AWESOME, JYHAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!
Then your ridiculousness is excused for being…
FAAAAAAABULOOOOOOUS
Oh, I saw those. They are references to points as to what would be worse IMO.
Thing is you are talking about a completely different issue. He took dumb pictures with guns. OMG? No more like WTF?
You went of on a tangent about dicks, jacking off and softcore porn stopping someone from going to law school.
Those particular points happened to jump out at me, as I said. Do I care that this guy was a wanna-be Neo? No. So I responded to the stuff which actually interested me instead of jumping on the “oooh, me too, bad school district bandwagon”.
If it makes you feel any better, fine, oooh, me too, bad school district.
It could be that we are from middle America where recreational shooting is more prolific among younger kids. They see the damage a firearm can do. Maybe. IMO
I think this stems from the news coverage. What could we have done? Whos to blame? They lose sight of the fact that the only person to blame is the shooter.

Agreed. I feel that if he is trying to head bullying off at the pass, so to speak, then he is actually preventing future violence by someone who feels that a shooting spree is their only recourse or payback scenario.
I’m fine. You are the one bringing dicks to a BB-gun fight.
Ummm…What?
