Bourlaoug is a BAD ASS and rightfully deserved.

He Knew he could kick is rivals ass, and that made all the difference.

Initially, Borlaug failed the entrance exam, but was accepted to the school’s newly created two-year General College. After two quarters, he transferred to the College of Agriculture’s forestry program. While at the University of Minnesota, he was a member of the varsity wrestling team, reaching the Big Ten semifinals, and helped introduce the sport to Minnesota high schools by putting on exhibition matches around the state. “Wrestling taught me some valuable lessons … I always figured I could hold my own against the best in the world. It’s an inappropriate crutch perhaps, but that’s the way I’m made”.[13] Borlaug was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Oklahoma, in 1992.

4.) How many selfless acts have you done? How many lives have you saved? When you have saved even 1/10th of the lives he saved(that would be 100 million lives) or even 1/1000th(that would be a paltry 1 million lives) then you can say he doesn’t deserve this(and actually have a leg to stand on).

Seriously, giving this guy 1 measly month is the least this community could do. If you can’t respect that then you are truly a sad, sad man.

I’ve studied more than my fair share of integrative biology, evolutionary biology, and bioethics. The issue has never been enough food or resources, it’s always been about distribution. And how many state extermination/sterilization programs are there? As I recall, we got rid of those ages ago.

Yes, supremacy movements have been around for a long time, and the only reason they continue to exist is because people like yourself see no reason to stop them.

He didn’t consider the long term consequences of his actions, on that I agree with you. Honestly, it was probably because he was too worried about trying to help people and feed the starving. Whether or not handing out condoms would have been more successful remains to be seen, but I’m sure the improving education system thanks to the increased food production will have a much bigger impact on population control.

Chubbychaser, its possible to both stave off overpopulation, and feed the already existing populace. Letting people who are already alive die is not the only method of population control. One can also affect a population’s birth rate.

While your right in saying preventing starvation makes a larger population sustainable (or not as it may be), this could also be said of any other advancement that improves our lifespan, survival rates, or ability to reproduce.

It’d pretty stupid to simply reject every scientific advancement that does one of those things directly or indirectly. No more medicine, no more electricity, or plumbing etc. etc etc. the most useful advances namely.
