All you have to do is read the class / style descriptions. That’s right ladies and gents, if you want to be trained in Enlil Jiu-Jitsu (taught by the Grandmaster himself!) or just want to learn how to bench press your baby (no, seriously, visit the site) then ANU Academy is right for you.
Neale started training at some point in the late 90s, made it the rank of blue belt, took NINE years off from doing anything martial arts related and came back onto the scene in 2009. He immediately was awarded a purple belt upon his return by Gracie Barra and within the same week told them he wanted to become a 10th Planet affiliate. Naturally GB told him no and he decided to proceed anyway. 10th Planet Morgantown is born.
My friend, a white belt, took classes from him for a bit but the first (and last) time they rolled, Neale was tapped via triangle. Neale threw a fit after my friend left citing his “irregular breathing” as the reason he rolled poorly.*
After two years of thriving solely on hype (and training exclusively with people he teaches), Neale has founded his own martial art dubbed Enlil Jiu-Jitsu… His site, a case study in marketing, fails to mention GB’s outrage of his 10th Planet affiliation. And I’m pretty sure 10th Planet wouldn’t be cool with him calling his no-gi program (a botched 10th Planet knock off) by another name. I’m sure he pays his affiliation fee but he makes a mockery of their system. *
Focussing almost entirely on training children and women, “Grandmaster” Neale has competed handful of times in out-of-region competitions’ Masters’ divisions but refuses to compete locally for fear people will catch onto his scam. Neale might have the charisma of an enthusiastic dictator but don’t let it fool you. Ask him about the number of conspiracy theories he believes in if you don’t trust me. * *
Overall this school is a 3. If I had NO other option I would use this place solely for the facilities. But there’s a superior BJJ/MMA school not even a mile away.
Sonny, of SCMA, is a petty thug at best. Anyone who has compete or trained in south western PA or northern WV can attest to this. Frodo ranked 2nd in the Noth American ADCC qualifiers this past year so I think he has some ground to stand on as far as judging competition merit. Sonny’s attitude at other competitions and running the Kumite represents SCMA in a very negative light.
You may enjoy training at SCMA and your opinion is appreciated. However, Sonny has represented your school poorly in the region and done nothing to make people in the region enjoy your school’s presence. Keep up your training but don’t be surprised when people look peeved to hear you train at that facility.

Please provide proof that he is a “thug” Are there newspaper clippings, videos, police reports etc? We only deal in quantifiable evidence here, and your biased opinion doesn’t mean anything to us. This is not the place for petty character assasination.
You would think if that were the case he would mention the name of this other school. Sometimes a negative review is just another negative review, no ulterior motive.
Really, I don’t find it surprising that an affiliate school garners such a response. The whole concept of selling affiliations to people who have never trained at the home school, be it 10th planet, ATT, or what have you, is skeezy. At least Gracie Barra requires that you be at least a purple belt FROM GRACIE BARRA, before allowing an affiliation.

I would normally agree, except he didn’t post anything about his own experiences, just conjecture on what he had “heard” and what a “friend” told him.
Plus you dont post 2 negative reviews of schools in less than 5 minutes unless you have an ulterior motive.

You make a very good point.

Actually it’s 1.6 miles. But whatever.
I’ll say I’m not sure who wrote this. We sort of decided to let it rest, get a little laugh out of it (cause it is fucking absurd), and let it go. So none of us with a dog in the game wrote this. We try to keep drama at a minimum.
ha, you think you operate in strictly quantifiable and unbiased evidence. but, cmon, you train/trained with the guy! talk about bias. you ha e your bias, i have mine. we all have bias; i’m not here to claim I don’t.
and i’m not here to discredit your opinion. i wasn’t being smarmy when i said i respect your opinion; i seriously do. i’m not knocking yours so don’t knock mine. i’m here to voice my opinion just like you voiced yours. it is my opinion that sonny has been rude, ridiculously disputed results at our tournaments and even threatened my peers. this is my opinion that i am sharing with the community as you have shared yours.
sorry it offends you but the readers of the forum are intelligent enough to derive their own opinions based on a variety of sources. this is the manner in which most sites that offer consumer reviews function (ebay, amazon, etc.). you have yours, i have mine.
soldiermedic, i came to bullshido (the name sort of lends itself to the idea of calling out bogus schools) to call out this bogus school. i trained for years at ground zero morgantown and had to put up with seeing this fraud conduct his “business” in such a transparently bogus manner. go to the site yourself! it belongs in the mcdojo thread.
its pretty cool that a moderator “owned” me by changing the title of my thread (good one!) but if said moderator had a modicum of bjj/mma experience and actually bothered to read the site i posted, they’d realize how mcdojo / new age bs this place really is. i really do appreciate the flaunting of objectivity but cmon guys, you have an entire section of your website dedicated to whistle blowing bogus martial arts schools. there is no objective way to do this i am attempting to bring to your attention an entirely illegitimate bjj/mma school. i know the mod’s philosophy of “well if they’ve given two negative reviews back to back they must be up to no good” is simplistic and ergo easy to follow. but unfortunately there’s a lot of unprofessionalism and bullshido going around in martial arts. and whether anyone wants to admit it or not that’s why this site exsists.
yeah sure i said the owner of SCMA was in my opinion not a good dude (but i never said anything bad about his program or martial arts cred). and that was entirely because that thread was posted on the front page of where i was posting ans thought “gee, i’ll share my two cents”. but, again (via objectivity flaunting) in the SCMA thread a 2nd place ADCC qualifier competitor (frodo) was reprimanded by a keyboard warrior for having an “ulterior motive”. when it comes to claims about competition are you going to beleive a champion or a mod on a forum? hardware counts
perhaps the mod edited my post because i’m a noob (an outsider, someone who doesnt have enough points, someone who hasn’t been around and doesn’t deserve to talk trash with the best of em). cliques exsist everywhere, so it’s not surprising. but since this place operates with such a “no bs mma/martial arts” mantra they should actually investigate who they give props to.
it’s pretty obvious thst you established street cred by being a keyboard warrior. for me (and probably for the fraction of people on here who actually train religiously) your points system, your cred, your join date mean fuck all. the fact that i saw a highly decorated competitor on here bashed for sharing his negative experience with two schools in the pittsburgh area is still baffling to me. and the users/mods responsible for this should come off their digital high horse and realize just how knowledgable someone like Frodo is in mma and bjj in this area.
oh and, just to clear up my name is Kyle. I have a purple belt. I trained in Morgantown for four years. I now train in Huntington. I compete regularly and have a low tolerance for fake martial artists. See you guys on the mats (or not!)
Your rage is amusing. You must bring evidence to this site, especially as you posted in our MABS section (I’m assuming). No, “a friend said” is not evidence, no matter what colour belt you’re wearing.
Precisely why I didn’t unleash, Colin. I merely stated he needs to bring more evidence than “my buddy was there and he said it sucked, plus I know he is around the corner from someone else” or whatever. I admit I glazed over.
the friend thing is supporting evidence. ill ask him to get on her and post it (because then it’s first-hand and magically objective). the main point, or “evidence” is the site itself. disregard any and all supporting claims. but if looking at that site isn’t enough evidence to convict this place as a mcdojo, then i seriously doubt my friend’s first-hand account would do much to sway you
Maybe you should lurk more around the threads, read up on what we are about and chill out. So there’s a competing purple belt who runs a Mcdojo, according to the website you posted. McDojo? Maybe. But that is not a “conviction”. You need to come back with solid evidence, not hearsay, not “look at his website, it says a lot of things”, not “I’z a purple belt respect mah”. EVIDENCE.
So far you have only proven that there is a possibility it is a McDojo and there are many McDojo’s out there with quality instruction. It is not necessarily the mark of a shit gym/ instructor, although it is a red flag. What else have you got?
He actually started that thread in the reviews section. He probably should have started it in the YMAS section. maybe someone can move it there. he’s not trolling. he’s serious as a heart attack. If you guys check out that site you’ll see the absurd nature of whats happening.
I think I can sum it up pretty easy. Website makes massive claims of competence, training, skills and ability…Kyle feels these are exaggerated and have been wrapped in a wad of silly string for marketing purposes.
We’ve been on his ass to make changes to some of the claims on his website that were blatantly false. And as I look at it today, he has deleted ALOT of the claims he was making.
It looks like he’s just trying to polish a turd. That may not be fraudlent, but it is YMAS worthy. Or has Bullshido changed that much since I first started coming here?
Tanktop is a poor BJJ Student with a Bad attitude.
See I can do the same thing:
I have determined that Tanktop is a poor student, sucks at BJJ, and has a bad attitude. I base this on never meeting the guy, his anger at the mods, and his general poor attitude.
I inferred this information from words written on a computer screen. I have never visited his school, watched any of his matches, or know his rank or the skill of his teacher. Still he and his school must suck because, his attitude is crappy. There is no objective way of doing this noob poster review. I mean I can’t take the time to actually investigate his qualifications, nor the schools qualifications, not the instructors qualifications.
Even if he is 2nd place ADCC Champion, which really is a loser in MY OPINION you should’ve taken first, he’s still has a bad attitude. I base this on a thread posted in the garbage bin.
Or has Bullshido changed that much since I first started coming here?
I guess you skimmed the thread. I do not know who moved or merged the threads, but spamming was never allowed.
That can lead to an automatic ban. When you rant about modding, merging threads, and complaining your threads are edited it almsot always leads to a thread dumped in trollshido. That is nothing new.
What normally happens is the person calms down, reads the rules and starts a better thread.
That is nothing new.
Yes, Bullshido has changed but not as much as you think. If you know him on a first name basis explain how to start a thread correctly in MABS or YMAS.
