Any footage of him sparring? Or is it all just drills and compliant demos?
Not himself, but there are some videos of his students bashing it out (and Wang being the Ref) with some other people … not that either of them look very good, but they do seem to go at it.

http://www.youtube.com/user/jaiharman1
No, that is light contact sparring… I will give them props for actually sparring and putting it up. Your response tells me you need to invest in some harder contact sparring. That or “go at it” means something different in London.
I need to see him in some comps because he fights a noob, another chunner, and some other questionable fighters. Mongolian Brawler is the noob.
He gets props for accepting challenges, testing his art and having a level head.
Oh and LOL@MMA Style=YIQUAN/Sanda/Shuai Jiao
Yeah, don’t know why they feel the need to lump all that together and say “Oh! It’s MMA!” unless it’s for the cachet of saying “our guy has fought against MMA practitioners!”
I noted that he mentions in one of his videos that he fights whoever is put in front of him, but man, he manages to get some shy opponents.
Yeah, I’m being nice as I don’t know his or his opponents skill level. Also, I know people over estimate their skills and talk shit. For all I know, his opponents talked big and ended up being crappy. We have enough TD videos to know people talk a big game and then are a hundred times worse than expected.
“Go at it” was meant as in “venturing past chi sao” …
Not sure why this has got anything to do with me and what I should or should not do? The question was “Any footage of him sparring? Or is it all just drills and compliant demos?” … It’s neither just drill or compliant demo, and he’s somewhat involved … I am not, though.
“Go at it” was meant as in “venturing past chi sao” …
You also said “Bashing it out,” “ref” and “go at it” which all implies a hard competition. This didn’t happen in the video you provided.
Not sure why this has got anything to do with me and what I should or should not do?
Your description implies you did not know the difference between chi sau, sparring, light contact, “go at it” " bashing it out" and a drill.
Your current response reinforces that point to me. You showed us a random video of a student. It is tangential, but isn’t answering the question.
The question was “Any footage of him sparring? Or is it all just drills and compliant demos?”
No the question was are there any videos Of Wang Zhi Peng sparring. Now tell me who is in the video that you provided? Not Peng.
It’s neither just drill or compliant demo, and he’s somewhat involved … I am not, though.
No, he is no more involved than you.
If you watch closely, you’ll see that Wang Zi Peng is the referee in this sparring/match/whateveryoucallit … therefore “somewhat involved”.
If you read his question closely it isn’t about being a referee it was about Zi Peng SPARRING. He is not involved in any sparring. Are you sparring in that video? No. Is he sparring in that video? No.
You didn’t answer this question you posted a video of a random student sparring and Peng refereeing.
IIF: I know you’re on a mission or something, but I am the wrong person to target.
I know you are on a mission to promote more illusions about wing chun or you really didn’t understand the question. I am very pedantic especially in Chun threads about sparring.
I am pretty level headed and have no illusions about my training. Thanks for your concern.
None of which has anything to do with you posting a video and not understanding the question asked right?

I did understand the question, I did think it was still worth mentioning as it might give an indication towards whether they spar/compete/pressure test/whateveryoucallit or not.
I don’t think that makes Wing Chun into the d3adly, nor do I think Wing Chun is the de3dly, I agree with most points made about it on here.
I also don’t think that the video and the players involved looked particularly proficient, powerful, awesome or claimed they’re ready to win the UFC.
If that’s what you read into it, and what prompts you to dissect every sentence then so be it. But just like you find that my posts indicate I should do harder training and sparring, I read from yours that you might wanna have a coffee and a donut and chill the fuck out.

I’ll grant you that much. At least there is footage of one of their guys sparring, and against people from outside of his club. That is heavily mitigated by the fact that he appears to be the biggest guy in the club, and bigger than any of his opponents - even if one’s training is crappy, having a height, reach and weight advantage makes up for a lot.
My choice, of course, would be to see WZP sparring. We’ve heard on this thread that he’s “the real deal”, and that despite his small frame, he’s a good fighter, which is just hearsay unless shown otherwise. If we compare him to someone like Cus d’Amato, we could just as justifiably say “no, we don’t have any footage of him fighting, but just look at the results that his coaching had on his fighters.” Unfortunately, the fighting skills of his students aren’t that great.

Coffee is a stimulant so, that would do the exact opposite of making someone chill out… Like I said you used bash go at it and none of that is in the tape you posted. So, when you realize the topic is Zing you can keep posting.
It is funny how no one mentioned your strawaman of UFC, powerful, proficient, awesome or the deadly. Yeah. maybe you need to smoke some weed and mellow out. The FACT you added all of this pent up asshattery to my words says more about your dissection than anything I have done.
I said you need to go at it if you think bash and go at it is occuring in that video. You kept adding and editing posts to hide what you said.

Because this is in trollshido, Im gonna ask you to do something for me.
1.Read back your entire post.
2.Explain to me what the point of wing chun is then, and how it achieves anything in any context.
The Juggernoob:
It’s a nice bit of exercise to keep me fit and healthy, and I enjoy it … that’s about it, on my part, and that’s all I want from it.
This video IIF mentioned was done quite a while ago. In the meantime I have tried to broaden my horizon quite a bit. I have visited Tai Chi schools that spar (Neil Rosiak) and also been to a Ving Tsun school in Germany that compete in stand up and spar. I have taken JJJ classes that had some groundwork and standup sparring. All those people properly rinsed me. And I am fine with that. A lesson learned.
Like I said, I am not in some kind of delusional state where I think (insert straw men here), on the contrary I know that what I train and how I train is for fun and healthy living, and that if I wanted to be a good full contact fighter I would have to train like one.
IIF:
Breaking out this thread and moving it is fine, a PM about it would have been nice so I needn’t wonder where all the stuff has gone suddenly.

Fully agreed.
Yeah, I’d like to see that as well, actually, but the other vid was all that I could find.
That is heavily mitigated by the fact that he appears to be the biggest guy in the club, and bigger than any of his opponents - even if one’s training is crappy, having a height, reach and weight advantage makes up for a lot.
This is one of the reasons why I don’t particularly like the video.
Also a bit more info on the parameters of the matches would have been good.
The way they stand it looks to me like they ‘invited’ people to a ‘friendly’ match, in their club (which might already be intimidation of some sorts) and then get the biggest, strongest guy out they have so they don’t look bad under any circumstance.
IIF: Sorry, this isn’t helpful at all … I just don’t understand what the problem with my post was in this case?
You stated I was “on a mission to promote more illusions about wing chun”. I then said that I didn’t claim any of the most common bullshit assumptions. Why is that wrong again?
Also: Which illusions?
In my view all I did was post to a video with something beyond chi sao, and you deduced a whole training plan from the way I described it.
Actually, I sort of commented on your possible sparring and that was it. You took it to a whole new level all by yourself. I said nothing about chun sucking, your training sucking, you needing to prove something in the UFC, or any of the other pent up BS you eventually posted.
I said if you think…you know the rest because I’ve said it three times already.
You stated I was “on a mission to promote more illusions about wing chun”.
Yes and you stated
IIF: I know you’re on a mission or something, but I am the wrong person to target.
Now, you told me to calm down, but all I said was basically “no you.”
You lost your cool and went immediately to “OMG he thinks I am the deadly chunner I must defend myself and the chun.” We already discussed what your words meant to me and why I said you should get out more. Nowhere did I tell you to quit training your chun or compete. Sparring is not a competition.
I then said that I didn’t claim any of the most common bullshit assumptions. Why is that wrong again?
Which was an unecessary diatribe that you engaged in to muddle the point. See above for further explanations.
Also: Which illusions?
Go see your allegory about cofee and the UFC.
IIF: Sorry, this isn’t helpful at all … I just don’t understand what the problem with my post was in this case?
Sparring video of WZP. That is it. Not a student, not his uncle, not his mom or dad WZP sparring. You aren’t the first nor will you be the last to post the wrong video in a thread and have it removed.
I’m surprised it hasn’t been mentioned, but I doubt the “MMA fighter” had ever trained striking. Hands at shoulder level, check. Retreating straight back when struck, check. Turning around when hit, check. Throwing all-arm jabs from five feet away, check. Looks like me, only skinnier.
