Ninth-Dan TKD Expert Shot in Attempted Robbery

I wouldn’t expect a 14 year old to get sardonic humor. It’s all good, bro.

Fish don’t have humor!

Lovefest?

Matt,
I (and apparently others) didn’t get your sardonic humor. I requested an explanation and you called me a moron. However, I reviewed some of your other posts and now have a greater respect/understanding of you and your perspective. My second post was over the top and I apologize.

Dark humor doesn’t translate well onto a forum, I’ll restrict myself to saying, damn, and move on. I hope they catch the perp.

That does really suck. I’d love to see the perpetrator either jailed or shot himself.

I’d also like the reporters to figure out the difference between TKD and karate, jeez.

point taken. I guess it all boils down to value sets in the end, and we all know what a slippery slope that is.

I live in south florida, and biggest problem with this is that way that cops handle this type of situation for the suvillian. About a week or so before this shooting a cop got killed and there was a mass police movement to appehend the shooter, schools and colleges where put in state of lockdown until the guy got found. Why not put the same attention of detail when hunting for a guy that kills one of us, citizens I mean.

Thanks Goth. It’s all good.

They simply can’t, manpower-wise. Not a very satisfying answer, I admit. But true.

Honorary Police Chief Murdered

Young Soo Do was a famous and well liked martial artist.

Young Soo Do fought in the Vietnam war, where he was a member of a special forces group called the Blue Dragons. During his service in the war, he taught U.S. Soldiers hand to hand combat. Young survived it all and become the Tae Kwon Do World Champion from 1969 to 1971, and then served as the Head Instructor for the Korean National Tae Kwon Do team in South Korea. But his life of achievement did not end there: in 1976, Young came to America with the dream of passing on the traditions of Tae Kwon Do to a new generation of students.

Young worked hard to save up the money to open the Young Tae Kwon Do Academy in North Miami. His students ranged from young children to mature adults to police officers, FBI, and DEA Agents. Young’s dedication to his students earned him over 500 civic awards, and he has been cited for his outstanding contribution to the Art of Tae Kwon Do from the heads of the World Tae Kwon Do Association.

If that doesn’t speak to Young’s character, he was also the Honorary North Miami Police Chief. Young taught his students self respect, honor, and discipline, but police say, that wouldn’t stop a coward with a gun on November 10, 2007.

plus, much of the deterrent from harming an officer of the law, is the overwhelming response, by the forces. We’d have to have a massive standing police force to do much more, for normal folk, who get fucked over.

I think it sucks that he was murdered and don’t want to sound like I’m making light of it, but man, I am both amused and impressed by his awesome '70s picture from the amw.com article:

Man, that’s awesome.

If the same deterrent was there for killing anybody, being that cops aren’t special, there would be much less of these types of crimes.
