I have a number of different Gis, from GroundForce, to Gamneness, Atama, and Korall. I have to say that my favorite is my groundforce Gi. Its a single weave that is part hemp, part cotton. It has a thin lapel so that you have to learn to actually defend Gi chokes rather than just slip the collar under your chin. It is very soft and very, very durable. I just ordered a 2nd because I do not want to wash it every other night. After that, my Gamneness gi is also great - very tough, very heavy and after 5 years of Jiu Jitsu it has held up very well. I have the double weave white.
How the hell did you order another groundforce gi, when the guy who makes those has only shown pics of the new version, and is out of stock of the old version?

Anyways, I second Warrior-One (www.warrior-one.com). I do only have experience with the single weave though. I own five and so far they have held out well since starting to purchase them around 18 months ago. Although I know you aren’t suppose to use bleach in your Gi, I so enjoy it’s disinfection qualities. As such, I use less then a small cap full when washing them. Since I have 5 Gi’s, they will last longer. Also, because I get them wholesale through school, the price is only 55 bucks. The pants seem to be thicker then the average BJJ single weave Gis on the market but not at thick as the Gi pants Howard KK uses. I will probably buy two competition single weaves from Howard KK (one white, one blue…maybe) since I’ve made it a point to compete more.
In my opinion, 3 Warrior-One Gi’s for training (I train 6 days a week, usually 3 days a week Gi) and one or two high quality competition Gi’s (I’m going with Howard myself) will keep you going for a while. As for color, again, I like to use a very small amount of bleach to sanatize my gi’s so I prefer bleached white.
Note: I had an issue with two Gi’s I purchased from Warrior-One regarding the stitching of the Gi’s. Considering it was two Gi’s I purchased at once, it may have been a bad batch. I had it re-enforced at the local tailer in town and I discussed it with Kevin (runs Warrior-One) and he politely explained what may have been the problem (again, a potentially bad batch) and provided restitution for it without any troubles. Customer service is always excellent which is another reason I recommend them. Also, unlike Howard KK, Warrior-One is usually in stock. In cases were they were out of stock, Warrior-One provided them with their double weave models at no additional cost. I’m not sure if this is something they do all the time but it shows the level of commitment to customer service and when purchasing anything, exceptional customer service is always a plus.
I switch between a Koral, a Padilla and Sons goldweave and the Gameness Pearl. All are lightweight and have worn well so far.
I love my Padilla and Sons gi, but if I could only wear one gi it would probably be the gameness pearl. The P&S is a great value, but the Gameness Pearl is so light and comfortable. I prefer blue gis in general, so that’s my only knock on the Pearl. I think it’s generally available only in white, although one of the guys at my club somehow ended up with both a black one and a blue one.
