My uncle's a Sheriff, but I can find things out easier with google.

The point is this; regardless of how impressive this man looks while showing a technique, do you really want to train under someone who feels the need to introduce himself as “Grandmaster Such-and-Such” and isn’t forthcoming about specifics of his training, certification or experience? I’ve seen no indication or evidence that he was ever even in the military yet he’s teaching an “Army Ranger” fighting system. Really? What organization did he fight in to become a “world champion?” Who were his instructors in karate, kung fu and whatever other style he’s claiming to hold black belts in? What years did he serve in the US Army and who was his commanding officer? Can ANYBODY answer these questions?
Can ANYBODY answer these questions?
As of March last year, apparently not. But thanks for bringing this back up, your contribution seems really important.

If he was teaching what the rangers learn, he’d be teaching modern army combatives(MAC-P) , special operations combatives (SOC-P) a little Krav Maga type combat(kickboxing with groin strikes, which is authentic Israeli style apparently). Also some Gracie combatives and mauy thai from what I understand. (need confirmation on MT And GC)

Since what he is teaching is more of a Combat Japanese Jiu-jitsu type system (break the wrist, take his back, choke, knee his spine, and then takedown, all while the opponent is not resisting at all, I might add), I would say he is trying to sell himself as a Ranger teaching people Ranger combatives

This too, is retarded. Ranger combat is designed for the modern battlefied to kill as quickly and effeciently as possible, with emphasis on weapons combatives as well. How many people do you see running around with M-16s in the United States? Also teaching people to kill quickly and effeciently for self defense in the US is stupid even if he was legit. Military combat and civilian fighting should be kept seperate. Save the lethals for Special Forces, and t3h d34dl3y for the urban wannabes.

Apologies for the long post, I worked at the Department of Veterans Affairs a summer ago, and after working with and around real veterans, the posers piss me off. You don’t want to try and con me into believing you are military, unless you can tell me your MOS, years of service, where you were stationed, with who, and what you did(most vets I worked with neglected to answer the last point, whereas posers usually talk about all the killing they did and how badass they are.) Don’t say you were military unless you actually served…and also to those, “I have my DOD card but haven’t been to boot, but that still makes me a Marine or a Soldier.” Nope. Pass boot, get your rank and military ID…and we’ll talk. Untill then, stop being a wannabe poser.

Also, does this guy have like a school or something I can go to? I really want to ask him some questions about his “military service”. and then demo a class just for laughs. I basically see this system as pretty close to the Japanese Jiu jitsu I’ve encountered working with my uncle, so Its a fair bet that its just repackaged JJJ.

I brought it up because my uncle, also a sheriff’s deputy in Hillsborough Co., Fla. asked me to look into this guy. Apparently he’s part of my uncle’s motorcycle group and has been talking shit. My uncle thought he sounded pretty full of it and seems like a poser. From what I can tell my uncle has pretty good intuition.

Fair enough. Are you sure he’s the same guy? And is he still teaching? One more: can you share the name of your uncle’s motorcycle group?

Shhhhh… remember your age? Not saying the guy was a real Army Ranger, but depending on his age you would be utterly wrong.

I saw the video of him in ACU so I assumed he was claiming recent service. Forgot to account for the relative newness of MAC-P and SOC-P. One of the guys I use to train with was a Ranger deployed in Iraqi Freedom, and my comment is basically how he broke it down last time we talked. My point being, that even if he is teaching some sort of Ranger combatives, he shouldn’t claim to be a ranger unless he actually was one.

I am okay with this.

It’s definitely the same guy because my uncle is specifically calling BS on a lot of claims the guy is making. He also said that Mayo “was” a part of his motorcycle ministry (past-tense) and that they had some “issues” with him. He didn’t give me any specifics. He didn’t say whether or not the guy’s still teaching. I’ll try to get a bit more info.

Your point was he should be teaching the new stuff, so he isn’t a Ranger. That part is wrong.

And who’s the douche bag that renamed this thread “My uncle’s a sheriff, but I can find things out easier with Google?” It’s funny, but you’re a condescending asshole. I got an email from my uncle, who has never trained in the martial arts, wanting to know if I had ever heard of this guy, so I looked him up. BTW; I’m a sheriff’s dept., too, and Google actually IS easier in some aspects. It’s illegal to run NCIC on a person just to find out personal info. Matter of fact; it’s a good idea to know what you’re talking about, regarding ANY subject, before making ignorant statements.

That would be the moderator who moved the thread.

Who is the dumbass that doesn’t realize the thread wasn’t renamed? Who said anything about using NCIC? No one. Uh oh, covering your ass already?

Ironic isn’t it?

No thread was moved.

The posts that were excised from the thread, moved here and named appropriately. Or whatever you did.

happy?

Posts then?

Yep. See my post with the link to MABS?

Edit:
Ah there’s the pedantic poster, that gets angry in trollshido, I remember.

Yes, I did. I was being generic. Meany.

Really? If you paid any attention whatsoever you would know that thread WAS moved and renamed…unless it just randomly generated a different title on its own. It originated as a post under the “Tony Mayo” thread. So yeah, it’s ironic now that YOU replied without having any idea what you are talking about.

So what exactly do you think I’m covering about? lol. I don’t have a damn thing to hide about my training, career or anything else. Feel free to ask. Your attitude sucks. You come on here automatically assuming shit and calling me names when NOTHING I posted was directed toward you. Next you’ll be a keyboard warrior and start talking about kicking my ass and explaining to everyone what a badass you are. Hope I’m wrong, but probably not.

People, I came on here to check on a specific topic, not to start talking shit about fellow members. The only person I was upset with was whichever moderator gave this thread the sarcastic title without knowing anything about me or the situation. Not looking to prove myself to anyone in any way.

Let me know when you follow your own advice.

Also, do yourself a favor and click the link in post #7 and tell me what the title states.

Then go read your own Ironic and now Hypocritical bullshit about “ignorance.”

Like I said the thread was never moved.

This is hilarious on sooo many levels…

Um…followed your link. Original title, as I stated before, was “Tony Mayo.” Also, the first several posts there do not show up in THIS thread. What was that supposed to prove again?

Give me an example of how I’m not “following my own advice.” lol.

Whoever named this thread gave it a title which tried to depict some average joe thinking he can do better than the police by using Google. Whoever did it had no idea what they were talking about as that was NOT the reason behind the post, nor was it an accurate depiction of the situation. That is assumption and ignorance.

The only reason I can think of that you would have even taken issue with what I said is if you were the one who moved my original posts into this new thread and have it it’s sarcastic name. If you didn’t then what do you care? Just looking for an excuse to argue with someone and try to prove your dominance. I mean, you’re staff, right? So everything you post must be 100% accurate without any possibility of fault.
