Just so everyone know, the school this guy is from does seem legit. They host Top Kick Super fights on Long Island, one of the only Kickboxing events in Suffolk County. Guys from my school have fought in it.

Is there a reason he can’t be both? And to AJJ, DON FRYE is a second degree black belt in Judo. This proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that judo is awesome. (This standard of proof can also be applied to hockey punches, Godzilla movies, handlebar mustaches, and scorpions.) And at my first grappling tournament ever, my BJJ white belt self can destroyed by a guy with four years of judo. I have vid of that somewhere…but I’m not posting my own humiliation, you’ll just have to accept my word for it.

If he’s on long island he’s probably at one of the “mixed” American Jiu-jitsu schools… which basically means his teacher is Japanese Jiu-Jitsu Black belt, with MAYBE a blue belt in BJJ… if he’s lucky.

Those have been independently verified by the staff here, as has any other members with badges. Usually it’s a Black belt in one of the shittier, smaller, and completely unknown styles of Japanese Jiu-Jitsu that decides to open his own style that focuses on groundfighting more. He’ll advertise as BJJ… maybe he’ll even get a blue belt in BJJ, but he’ll tell the people he’s training it’s botrh so when they get there black belts they don’t bother saying its american jiu-jitsu, they say it’s BJJ… meanwhile they can’t even hold their own in the white belt category at a BJJ tournament
