I’ve been grappling with a friend who has quite a bit of experience in submissions from bujinkan once a week. It all started when he said he could armbar me from the bottom of mount position. I told him to try I guess he meant an americana which he found out hasn’t got much leverage when your mounted high. He then tried to buck I was controling well then let him roll me since I pretty much only have a guard game. He tried to pass by elbowing my inner thigh which got him triangled.
This week he was bugging me about my Muay thai which went from standing to a ground battle when I used a trip takedown from behind then mounted him. This started our grappling match part two It almost ended the same way as the last but I thought I’d try my leg locks when he tried to stand out of the triangle. This was a heel hook war with each of us rolling out of each others locks, I later figured out how he kept getting out. I had three kneebar attempts that he rolled out of how can I stop this? by the way I ended up siting up getting side control which ended up in with me armbarring him. Next week we’ll go again.

I must admit it wasn’t my best display but I rarely train leglocks. I didn’t think we were doing that bad? I learn all my grappling in Judo and we don’t do much ground work yet. As for the Bujinkan guy he’s not the best (actually terrible) but it’s been hard to find guys to roll with. I thought he was going to tap from a pin I had early on. I have rolled with a couple local MMA guys who made me their bitch pretty fast, it was kinda nice to go with someone at more my level. Maybe next time I’ll video tape it and you guys can get a real good laugh.
Pin his leg in between your legs; stick his kneecap in your crotch or just above, and squeeze your knees together, then grab his achilles tendon with your crossed forearms and pull back while pushing forward with your hips. That, or from the same position wrap your arm around his achilles until it’s in your armpit, and then continue to wrap your arm until your forearm is underneath, against his shin. Lean back.
