mop plz

imo the rnc is better-ive got more taps from it, both work great though its all a matter of the situation

That’s some lazy editing Shuma, you could have at least made it funny.

Just for that:

Someone needs to write a book with that on the cover and call it “passing the guard”

There are two types of “choke”, airway compression and arterial compression. Or in better terms cuttin off the air to the lungs or cutting off the blood to the brain. When it’s airway you know it. It’s fucking miserable, you can’t breath but you stay awake until your body wide supply of O2 is down to the point that your brain says “OK ASSHOLE, if you aint gonna breath yo ass is going nappy poo”. If your extremely well conditioned this could take a spell. Arterial compression is much more insidious. You can breath and think your OK then VOOPA, you’re getting smacked on the cheek while some guy gallavants about ring in a victorius manner.

I can honestly say, at least for some of the guys you see go out, that some of them don’t even see it coming. Yeah they are in a shitty situation. But they can draw at least half a breath so they think they have options.

Mind explaining?

since you have such a strong opinion of it…

I was at a bonfire on the beach in Santa Barbara this summer and there was some drunken horseplay going on. This one Brazilian dude (my friends boyfriend) was getting chased around by some guy he managed to avoid. He said “You can’t catch me because of my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu”. I immediately challenged him to rastle with me and being drunk, he accepted… In just a few seconds, I single legged him into side control, took his back and threw on the choke. Didn’t sink it really deep though until he tried to stand up with me on his back. Then I locked it in he collapsed (ala hughes-trigg). He was out, I smacked his chest a few times and he woke up very confused about what just happened. Good times…

In other words: Thanks for the pointers, but we all train various grappling arts, so we know already. In fact if you look just above the various posts you’ll see things like “BJJ brown belt”, biiiig fucking givaway.

The point of a choke is to cut off the blood and the air. Sometimes you get more of one than the other. Just giving the two reasons why it works. But if you have further info then I am all ears.

No I don’t have further info… neither do you. Stop trying to make yourself sound clever by telling a forum full of grapplers things they are taught on the first day.

Well maybe it’s a clue as to why some tap and some don’t. Or maybe it’s a matter of personal character and has shit to do with phisiology. Thanks for the biiiig fucking hint
though.

You’re one of those people who ‘toughs it out’ aren’t you?

No. Not at all. I have tapped when I can’t breath and have no chance of rolling out of it. But I have been in situations where I thought I had a chance and wound up getting the honor of wakeing up to a halo of faces hovering over me.

Arterial compression…

Aint the carotid artery a bitch…

sorry, though I was editing the last post.

Please abort yourself.

Shit, you guys are slipping. There was a time when I could NEVER post that pic in DHS…how the mighty have become apathetic.

Why did you keep pulling?

Please be patient: I’ve never been to a tournament, and since I do not know how to escape a jujigatame without breaking an arm I wonder why you haven’t simply kept him pinned till the time ended…

It was an important tournament and there was less than thirty seconds left with me losing. The onus is kind of on him to tap in that situation since I had him locked in. I couldn’t transition to a pin since I had the juji pulled straight out and wouldn’t even consider it since the armlock was on tight. I put it on in a controlled fashion and gave him ample time to tap out but he held on too long and thus ended up with a busted arm. I might’ve done the same thing in his shoes and I’m sure he would’ve done the same in mine. Keep in mind this was a tournament that counted for national ranking and points which lead to funding, selection for international tournaments, etc. In a small tournament I don’t know if I’d do the same thing… though I probably would. It’s his choice to tap or not when he’s caught and his consequences when he doesn’t. I would have a really hard time taking a loss in a match where I should’ve won simply because I don’t want to injure someone who’s too stupid/proud to tap. In the club, no question I’d just let it go but in a competition it’s different.

If I could plus rep in this forum I would.
