MMA another great sport?

The other day I was witness to a fight. I walked into the situation in a local park, actually in the parking lot, so I don’t know what the issue was. The men were about the same size. One man swung a hey maker at the other who took him to the ground. Both men hit the ground hard and rolled around then got up. The man who swung was holding his elbow the man who took him down seemed to have thrown out his back. Take downs, MMA, hmm. Who in his right mind would take down an opponent on a street, sidewalk, or parking lot where one wrong move can result in injury not from an opponent but from rock, glass, or simply from an unforgiving hard surface. It doesn’t matter what your belt is.

You forgot AIDS needles and lava.

Burn your strawman (and yourself).

I would. And if I fell with them I would just make sure I fell on them, like every other grappler out there.
After a few years of training it is quite easy to drop a person with no grappling experience on their head.
It sounds like you need to go to your local judo dojo and see if the black belts throw their backs out every time they hit the ground.

for the love of all things holy

This thread made me laugh. Then it made me wish my bjj school was open Sundays. Then it made me cry, because I took kenpo for so long.

Were they crying?

One day, at band camp, I saw these two guys go at it. They never had any martial arts experience at all cause they played in the band all day. They were grabbing each other and punching each other like in hockey. They both broke their hands. And then they had to leave band camp.

Punches to the face, Kempo, hmm. Who in their right mind would punch someone in the streets, sidewalk, or parking lot where one wrong angle could result in the the fracture of their hand, not purposely from an opponent but from hitting his chin, temple, cheek bone or simply from an unforgiving hard surface. It doesn’t matter what your belt is.

That’s the kind of shit that happens when untrained 45 year old soccer dads fight in the playground parking lot. The one that played football in highschool 30 years ago goes for the tackle and everyone goes to the hospital. Training is your friend. Pull guard next time.
