This type of thing totally creeps me out, and is akin to worrying reports during the W. era that Evangelicals were actively proselytizing in military academies and on base - a kind of C21st version of the “muscular Christianity” of the C19th that was one of the many ideological foundations underpinning British imperialism.
But if and when I can manage to momentarily check my liberal aversion to fundamentalism of any stripe, I suppose I can see that it’s not so different from church groups in predominantly minority neighborhoods running boxing programs to keep kids off the street.
Overall, however, yuck.

I have no problem with any church making fight teams but using MMA as a metaphor for Jesus’ struggle is just crass. They’re trying to excuse themselves for wanting to punch guys in the face.

Calling the Nazi’s leftist makes about as much sense as calling Rush Limbaugh skinny. Sure they were called the national socialist party, but they were opposed to communism and socialism (especially under Hitler). If you have problems with the left or democrats (which are arguably not the same thing) wouldn’t it be better to actually voice those problems instead of invoking Godwin?
Just once I would like to see a fighter say this after winning : “I just want to thank the dark lord Satan, father of all lies…” especially if the other fighter has the “other side” sponsoring him. Gotta’ get the endorsement from whoever is left.

Hitlers use of the word socialist was like Hitlers use of the word Party
It was equivalent to saying “peoples”
It is equivalent to the Communists saying “we are the peoples party.”
And the nazi’s saying “No We are the peoples party”
Leftist = someone who believes everyone should be equal (meaning no one is better or allowed to live better or be better or have any rewards greater than anyone else)
Fascist = someone who thinks that by their measuring stick only those they consider to be better should be in control or have a say
Fascist=/= socialist as we now know it

Why is it, in many contact sports, when the guy wins he says “I want to thank my Lord and savior Jesus Christ for my win.” However, you never hear “I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for letting me get my ass kicked?”
