Miguel Torres axed by UFC over rape joke tweet
My wife is Jewish and for years I was under the impression I was of German ancestry, so she called me a Nazi.

Then I found out that my family was, in fact, from the Swiss side of the border, so now she just calls me a big, chocolate loving pussy.
Better watch out if you get a divorce you’re going to be liable to give her a much bigger chunk of your gold.
From what I saw elsewhere on the internets, he first tweeted rape van, and then changed it afterward. I should have been clear about that.

Also, apparently it’s a joke from a tv show. I’ll see if I can dig up which one.
EDIT:

“It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia”.

how is it any business of dana’s or the ufc’s what he says/does on his twitter. if he raped someone, sure i could see the ufc releasing him because it reflects poorly on them. but to release someone who’s an obvious contender within his division just because they disagree with his sense of humor…

what’s next, releasing guys who speak out against the ufc’s contracts like randy couture did? (yes i know he’s retired, just using him as an example to make a point).

Double post, sweet double post.

Yeah, well, you have to be an exceptionally stupid cunt if you get all the buzz, all the internal UFC briefings on how to use twitter and social media, and still do something that is on the no-no-list.

Also, I had the misfortune of following Torres for a while on twitter/facebook. He writes stuff that stresses, well, the boundaries of intelligence all the goddamn time. I would say, Torres’ axing had more to do with his overall style, than with this incident in particular.

Also, even if he doesn’t follow the recent shenanigans at the UFC, with Griffin-Gate, etc. his fucking manager should do.

Nope, all my money being in Swiss banks and all…

It would be one thing if he was fired for saying something dishonorable. Instead, he was fired, as is typical of corporate America, for threatening the bottom line.
Miguel Torres: Tasteless, but shouldn’t lose his job ove this.

Dana: WTF is wrong with you?
Agreed.
Nope, all my money being in Swiss banks and all…
Precisely, that’s where “her people’s” gold is kept.

I’m glad someone provided some context that makes sense of this. Clearly Torres was cut for stealing jokes, not the content. Possibly could have gotten away with it if he’d stolen funnier material . . . either way, I sense Joe Rogan in there somewhere.

(No, seriously, this makes no sense . . . but the world were ruled by consistency and fairness, the UFC could never cut another fighter after they gave Rampage a pass.)

Well, at least Torres can always apply to work at Strikefo- oh yeah, nevermind.

Hello Bellator.

If the president of the company wasn’t so filthy mouthed, then that would be one thing. Only thing is, he’s the same kind of git, as those whom he’d criticize.

Bottom line, don’t piss off DW, because his insecurity about his own (non)martial past, means he has to swing the biggest dick. So if he wants to demean people, fine…but don’t put him out there, by doing the same, cos he’ll sack you, just to preserve what’s left of his dwindling middle aged manhood. Either toe the line, or stroke his ego post-scandal, to ease his butthurt.

That said, it was a retarded thing to tweet. Talk about making waves. It is funny that talk cost him, what PED/drug abuse didn’t cost others, in the organization. It’s not like tasteless jokes help you fight (take note Chael Sonnen).

Seriously, can some other organization please outdo the UFC? I love watching their fights but I hate how they are monopolizing the top tier of the sport and how they are run by an attention whore who goes from praising fighters to having a stick up his ass (rape analogy intended).

Also good job on making up a reason to kick Overeem out of Strikeforce to twist his arm into the UFC. “Things are going to be business as usual.” except we are going to drain all the talent into the UFC and then shut her down in a couple years when we can use the excuse that she is no longer making money for us.

I mentioned this to the women who were at the UFC party last night. They asked me what the joke was. I told them the joke, they laughed.

The more fucks you use Dana, the more we believe you. Honestly.

You big fucking pussy. You fucking crybaby.

And of course the cherry on top is that you begged for an apology after this video became viral.

Fuck Fuckity Fuck Fuck Fuck, Dana.

LOL. You do realise that the same exact video was what made Phrost name Dana the Badass of the Month in Aprill 2009? Its even on Bullshido’s official youtube channel.

I can see why he did it, it reflects badly on the company; I’ve known people who have seen complete shitstorms at work for things they’ve posted on facebook. They were warned, as would Torres have been at some point - if you choose to break the rules you’re asking to get in trouble irrespective of whether the rules are rational or proportional or whatever.

That being said, it does seem overkill considering what the actual tweet said. I would imagine a public apology from Torres and an official warning, along with the obvious ‘The UFC doesn’t support…’ shit would have sufficed.

Its not like this is the first time that a company has shown hypocrisy regarding punishment for bad behavior of top executives vs. bad behavior of regular employees. Guess what? When your the top of your company and a partial owner you can be a complete ass-hat, have full job security, and fire employees at your whim for trivial matters.

He should rape Dana.

Presidents and CEOs don’t necessarily have ANY job security. They have their overlords too…in Dana’s case it’s Zuffa LLC. Zuffa would fire Dana the moment Dana becomes a threat to Zuffa, LLC’s bottom line.

Hence, his sucking ass for forgiveness from Sherdog reporters, radio hosts, and mass media at large for being an ass publicly. He’s not stupid. He’s just big, dumb, and overpaid. Money can do that to someone.

What value does Dana White actually have anymore? I’d say very little, other than collecting paychecks. He may claim to still “Set everything up” but we all know it’s bullshit…an army of unnamed fucks who get paid shit do that for him.

Dana is about as business critical to UFC at this stage as a Swingline stapler.
