Grumpy today, are we? There have been perfectly good investigations done and articles written up by this site.

A McDojo is an establishment where martial arts is taught and the profit motive leads to some degree of watering down or otherwise compromising the value of some or all of the classes in order to make more money. This can include offering daycare facilities where all the kids play at doing martial arts, or employing long-term contracts, like health clubs do.
Being McDojo doesn’t necessarily mean that some or all of the instructors are dishonest or lacking in skill, and it doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t learn to fight in such an establishment.

Bullshido is a catch-all term for martial arts training which is fraudulent. It comes in varying degrees of severity, from various attacks or defences which just aren’t very practical, but which the instructor is convinced is lethal because he’s never tried it for real, up to and including completely loony claims to movie-like superhuman powers being developed through breathing exercise, forms practice, or just through touching the shihan’s pee-pee during a full moon.

Just because I post here, I am in no entitled to claim to represent Bullshido.
- Most here at Bullshido understand that the site’s purpose is to pubically expose ineffective martial art systems and poorly run training centers.
I think the site’s purpose is to provide detailed analysis of different martial arts styles, schools, and instructors.

A McDojo is an establishment where martial arts is taught but in which the owners’ and instructors’ pocket books are the main concern of the school often, but not always, at the expense the student’s education.

Bullshido is when the circumstances are found to be such that students are learning techniques that instil them with a false sense of confidence in their abilities.

Just because I post here, I am not neccessarily fit to represent Bullshido.
Absolutely! Those were terrific investigations and articles. Unfortunately things like that haven’t been done recently. Storming Dojos and challenging people to fight seem to be the most recent activities.
So what do you plan to do about that?
Bullshido = martial arts related bullshit, as in chi-energy manipulation, pressure points of death and no-touch KO’s.
There’s more than one investigation currently in progress at the moment.
I’ll agree with the BJJ nutriding. There tends to be some but, there only a few good TMA defenders. There is a thread using Earl Montague as a research point. To me that is like using the Enquirer as source material.
So what is the official Dojo Storming rate. I’ve actually read more stuff like HH, Shaolin-Do sparring report, Anatagony Shaolin-do report, West Wind Karate, the Chuck Greer report, bushidokan, and the TGC thread. I think we got some babies who haven’t bothered to read through and they are cluttering up the board.
This isn’t directed at you j416to, but to people with a low post count (like me) who have no clue what the site is about. They hop on without reading and wade in, get caught up in the hype.
Well, for a start, I’m voicing my opinion that Storming Dojos and issuing challenges is foolish.
And as dumb as I think KM is, I also think everyone is being really unfair to him. A couple of weeks ago people were praising Osiris for fighting KM, and now everyone is laughing at KM for being an immature 17 year old wannabe kickboxer. There seems to be a serious lack of consistency here.
I understand that. My post was simply a sarcastic exaggeration, an over-reaction that was meant to make a point, a point in the most unsubtle of ways.
To endorse what is seen as proper and effective martial arts training and to help negate the influence of improper and ineffective martial arts training.
And people are marketed to blatantly and sometimes offensively. Contracts are also a hallmark of McDojo training.
To be contrary to the claims of the claimant.
Hm. This is more of a personal question, I feel I’m obligated to represent Bullshido, but not in the sense of saying, “I do this and that,” but as impersonally as possible. I tell people about the qualities of this forum in the hope that they will join it, and participate in the community and its mission.

KM vs. Osiris had been building. It wasn’t a dojo storming. KM has been challenging Osiris again. A person to person challenge isn’t a dojo storming. Read the thread about KM. He wanted to storm a dojo. They produced a fighter and he ran. He insulted the instructor. The instructor said lets go. He backed out again. That is why he is getting the abuse.
By your deifinition all martial art schools are a McDojo.
This is true, but KM is just a kid. Of course he’s going to do something stupid like this. I don’t think this happens because of inexperience or low posts, its just immature. Everyone praises KM for challenging Osiris, eveyone praises Osiris for fighting KM and winning. So as a result, KM has to do the same thing all over again, but this time with a bigger fish, to restore is cedibility. That is foolish, that is something that is likely to get someone hurt, sued, and or humiliated. That is something this board should not be associated with, in any way or form.

I post here and I am willing and able to represent Bullshido. Anybody who isn’t should stfu.

Great posts. . .
Feryk’s questions, “So, what are you going to do about it?” "What, now? "
Is exactly the kind of question I was hoping to spawn with this thread. . .

I prefer interviewing but, Dojo Storming is funny. I mean KM challenged Osiris and somehow it has become a Dojo storming like Satori. It wasn’t the same at all. It was set up through the gym they even had corner men for Osiris. The people at his gym were telling Osiris how to take KM out. If this was really to prove how crappy the gym was Osiris would’ve been fighting their best fighter. Most people get beat up and challenge the same person again. KM wen to Satori. Still it would be in a controlled enviroment. I’d prefer that then hearing KM accosted someone in the street and got killed. With his attitude that is where he is heading. So, in that instant keep challenging gym KM you’ll get hurt but not dead.

That was a fight in that I was trying to kick his ass and he was supposed to be kicking mine. The rules and pace were also consistent with a fight. There wasn’t a negative attitude at the time and the occurence of said events was the result of the coaches commands.

I had no corner man. There was a referee who was in the ring shouting things to both of us. There was a proper round timer, with not an extra second of relaxation allowed. Knightmare had a coach in his corner. The coach was yelling at both of us to beat the other. When Knightmare hesitated he was yelled out and sent back into the center of the ring.
Satori was on the scene BEFORE we got together.
You are right I forgot it was the ref my bad. Yet, you went in specifically for KM right. It had nothing to do with outing his gym as Bullshido. At least that is what I understood. I was wrong once I can be again.
