I’m coming to the throwdown because I want to see what it’s all about. I have heard things, I have been told things, and I want to see it with my own eyes. I’ve done the fight clubs, I’ve run with that pack, and that’s behind me. I’m not back in those days. I’m looking to go back to that.
I’ve read some of your other posts about crossing hands with certain groups of people. I’m sure you know we’ve got the same in the Korean culture, and that’s behind me. The Chinatowns may have cleaned up compared to what the stories my generation hears. If you really walked those streets in those days, then you’ve earned my respect. I don’t have to tell you that the KTowns haven’t cleaned up. The drugs, the smuggling, it’s still here, but it’s kinda hard to cross hands with guns. At least the firebombing has stopped for now. You’re in Bmore. Walk into 1.7 on the wrong night or go down to Annandale. There are still girls getting yanked out of there hometowns and sent here. Now KJ-Il and the NorKos are getting in on it too. As if wannabe Korean punks weren’t enough…
To be blunt, I don’t know you or anyone else who would be at this “Throwdown”. Trust me, it’s not a lack of courage, it’s a lack of trust. To be blunt, I have no reason to trust anyone walking into this blind like I am.
If I like what I see, then that will change. You don’t want me to bring my girls, fine, I’ll bring my boys. I just figured you didn’t want some stranger rolling up with a crew. Like I said, I don’t know any of you, and I’m going to scope the situation before I jump in head first.
I’m out of shape, and out of practice. I’ve spent too much time being a drunken tiger, and just now starting to walk down the Way I left behind a long time ago. For someone with the experience on the wood and on the concrete I’ve got, right now I feel like a white belt. I’ll come, I’ll watch. I tell you what, I’ll even bring my gear. If I think it’s legit, I might get in there and learn a lesson or two. I’m hoping this will be a good thing, that it’ll be motivation to kick my ass into gear.
If this is legit, then it gives me even more reason to get back on the hardwood floor and get my ass kicked back into shape, so at the next throwdown, I’ll be at my best.
You’ve already confused me with the Olympic pansies. That’s not me, and that’s not Taekwondo. I own them, and if I wanted to talk story about some “so-called champions” of the NOVA/MD Hedz, I could, but that’s not my style.
Cross-training is nothing new to me either. You study Hung Ga? Are you familiar with 5 Tigers Jow Ga in Columbia? A couple of my boys train there. They’re good fighters and damn good Lion Dancers. Groundwork is nothing new to me, though it’s not my favorite thing on Earth. I don’t like rolling around on concrete. Messes with my allergies…
As for fighting this other TKD kid, fine, whatever he wants. But if he’s Olympic…then forget it. I’m not wasting my time on it.

Baltimore has a KTown?? More like scattered lottes and liquor stores which have a shaky truce with the black hairdressers and chicken joints (a la Romeo Must Die, except x out the chinks, bring in the gookies).
1.7 is only filled with korean hopkins students, which half are pansies and the other half are learning how to be pansies. I knew this kid who’d go in there all the time acting all ghetto and gangland shit - turns out he went to private school (a la 8 mile).
Annandale I dunno about. I hear there’s alot of Koreans in Ellicott City though. Dunno if they old or if they wannabe Korean punks. As for girls getting yanked out their homes - are u talking prostitution? I’ve been out on North avenue and Hartford avenue and Greenmount at 3AM or later and there’s really only one color out there…

EC is like half-Korean, but there’s not much in the way of bars or anything like that. Mostly just Lotte, Hanareum, and a bunch of PCBangs. Then you’ve got UMBC right next door. It’s supposed to stand for University of Maryland, Baltimore County, but it really means U Must Be Chinese, since the campus has a huge Asian population.

There aren’t any in Baltimore anymore, though some of the other bargirls (not 1.7) are a bit loose…these days they’re all ajumas. There are several in NOVA. JSF, do you have extra gloves? I havn’t done TKD in a few years. College gets in the way. So i don’t even know where my gloves are now. If you have extra equip bring it please, i will need gloves. We should do some sparring. I see that you’ve been doing martial arts a very long time. How old are you? Can you still fight at your age?

I’m not talking about the Namgang restaurant (though the jjambbong there is pretty good). I’m talking about the “sports bar”…yeah, “sports bar”…that’s a joke…there used to be a lot of girls running through there…lot of cocaine too.
I’m not olympic TKD. I have went to tourmanets though, but they were karate tournaments with the stop and go point sparring. But the stop and go is even worse than Olympic TKD style.
The TKD I do is very similar to karate. I’ve done karate too and other than minor differences they both share a lot of technques. TKD does side kicks with the heel of the foot, karate uses the edge. TKD chambers punches close to the armpit, karate champers at the hip. Just small differences.
I really want to fight JFS USA. It will be cool. He is older, but has more experience and skill probably. I just hope he’s not too old or i won’t fight him. If he’s in his 40’s that will be ok though. But i’m thinking he’s in his 50’s cuase he has 35 years of martiali arts. Depends on what age he was when he started. He could be a very old guy. How old are you JFS? I would like to do a friendly fight with you. :la:
