Most people that fight, whether be boxing, wrestling, MMA, whatever are warriors at heart. But, when you remove the nobility from being any sort of warrior, you become a common thug.
There is more to fighting than showing people how tough you are.
Never said age makes you dull. Some old folks are tought as nails. I was more on the point that broad generalizations are what old (as in people over 60) folks do when they get nostalgic. And for the most part it’s pure bullshit.

On that I can agree with you. I prefer the guys like Randy Couture who don’t go on about themselves and their majestic thuggery. The guys who are in it to get to know their limits and test their skills against others (btw. this doesn’t take anything away from the want to win) are my kind of guys, opposed to guys who are in it because they get to beat other people up and get a nice badass image to go with it.
That being said, to me it seems that most of the fighters who I have seen on interviews have seemed pretty polite and good mannered guys that don’t talk unnecessary smack about their opponents (pre-fight hype is just business, imo). The kind of guys I want to cheer for.

Hey dude, I’ll have to agree with you and I’m too tired to go through all the posts so I’ll say this. I get guys in my gym all the time that want to fight. Before they can fight for me they have to find that middle ground of “just enough ego” to win a fight. Too much ego and we’ll knock it out of you. Not enough ego and maybe you shouldn’t be fighting.
That origianl post you made was a bit harsh but I know exactly what you mean. I actually had one of my fighters complain because I tried to deepen the weight class he represents. Nice guy, still trains but not part of my team anymore.
