Kuk Sool Couple Are subjects of TV documentary
Sherri Basso

HOUSTON–Kuk Sool experts Barry anhd Choon Ok Harmon were recently highlighted in a documentar that aired on Korea’s KBS television network. They were selected becasue tehy are the highest-ranked male and female Americans in the traditional Korean art.
KBS cameramen traveled here to videotape the couple training students at their headquarters, then followed by the Harmons and a small group of students as they flew to Korea to attend a tournament and spend 24 hours at a Buddhist temple. Supplemental footage shows the masters practicing traditional Korean archery, knife throwing, sword forms and staff routines.
Barry Harmon began his martial arts career when he was 13. He was ranked injudo, taekwondo, karate and kungfu before discovering kuk sool while he was stationed in Korea as a memeber of the U.S. Air Force. Afterward he studied at the San Francisco College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and received his state and national licenses.
Choon Ok Harmon first developed an interest in the art when her sister married kuk sool chief master Seo Insun. Because it was somewhat an oddity for females to train in martial arts back then, she appeared in more than 300 demonstrations in Korea before she met Barry. The couple was married in 1980 and opened their first school together in 1981.

awwwwww<img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle> a married couple AND they hold the highest ranks of male and female KSW at the same time!!

Actually I have met them back in 98 while in Korea for a tournament, and they are very nice people. To boot they train hard. They were both in KSW prior to their marriage. They were introduced by Chief Master Seo. They came up in the ranks together. Go check out their school sometime. Tell them Jim Carrey of Chicago sent you, they may still remember me.
