if laughing at that is wrong, i don’ wanna… ah forget it. i love that he was hanging out in public with his gi jacket on. 6’3’', 275, national champ, and still insecure. small pecker much?
to be fair, it said that the jacket was the spark that started the conversation, so it could well have been a normal jacket with “Judo” written on it somewhere, rather than a gi top.
still, this does point out what can happen if you wear clothing that advertises that you do a martial art.

What a douchebag.
the leg could have been broken when getting thrown, for all we know (it happens, i saw it happen this weekend, on mats, with a 1st degree brown belt being the one who got his leg broken.)

yeah, you’re right. the article sez ‘judo jacket,’ which really could mean anything. but first thing i thought was ‘gi top.’ much more fun that way, too.

It is still amusing the Judoka punking out an Aikidoka with his cell phone.

That’s what I figured. Guy got thrown and broke his leg on the landing.
The only thing that got published was the story from the police report. The jacket was not a gi. It was a coat from his gym. It wouldn’t make any sense for a nationally ranked competitor to randomly beat someone up now would it? Were he and his friend provoked for talking to the victims girlfriends on the train? Were they attacked first? Always two sides of the story friends.
Chances are if the other douche was an aikidoist, he broke his own leg doing his own shitty brand of breakfall. I see this a lot with Aikido turned judo. They breakfall with their leg tucked under in attempts to roll out of throws, but they don’t factor in that when someone wants to throw you and hurt you, they’ll fall on top of you and you can’t roll out of shit.
The New York man pulled out his cell phone either to photograph or film the confrontation. Davis, according to Maya, grabbed the phone and passed it to Walker.
Walker then allegedly demanded $20 to give it back.

Being in judo doesn’t change who you are. Nobody changes. A douche is a douche no matter what flag he flies under.
Nobody changes? What? Isn’t this site filled with TKD black belts who have changed?
Gad, read Autobiography of Malcom X for starters. Then To Kill a Mockingbird, a book that changed America. And didn’t Jackie Robinson didn’t change how America viewed Blacks? Nelson Mandela won, remember? How about Selma? Then how about St. Paul, and Gene Simmons who changed his name from Chaim Witz? And Winona Ryder used to be Winona Horowitz, so people change all the time.
And tell it to Jigoro (but wtf does he know?):
Judo is the way to the most effective use of both physical and spiritual strength. By training you in attacks and defenses it refines your body and your soul and helps you make the spiritual essence of Judo a part of your very being. In this way you are able to perfect yourself and contribute something of value to the world. This is the final goal of Judo discipline.
To sum up, judo is a mental and physical discipline whose lessons are readily applicable to the management of our daily lives.
People never change. Once you hit about 14, your personality and who you are is set for life. The only different after that is your ability to control your shitty impulses and be a functioning member of society.
Anybody who thinks that people can change is ignorant.
