Hi,
Has anyone come across a kung fu style which aims to build internal pressure in your body? This is done by a variety of specially designed exercises.
Thanks.

Can you describe what internal pressure is and what kind of exercises are used to develop it? It sure sounds unhealthy.
Its not easily described… basically the aim is to build some pressure in your lungs/dan tien as they call it. The pressure is just air, being compressed when you tense up.
Sooo… breathing in then?
of course… obviously you haven’t came across it.
I’m sure he’s breathed in before.
It sounds a little bit like the abdominal valsalva manouver http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valsalva_maneuver which is done by weight trainers to keep their spine from folding in half.
Hmm not exactly, because the air that is trapped in the lungs are not meant to equalize the pressure in the ears. The exercises are not meant to forcibly exhale the air… it is meant to stay in your lungs/diagphrams as you tense up at the end of a punch (for example).
I guess no one’s come across anything like it?
I should have linked to a different article. When you breath in and hold your breath while tightening your abs to lift something heavy that’s also a valsalva. Nothing to do with ear pressure.
What is the reason you are asking?
Have YOU come across such a thing?

I’ve got some “internal pressure” building up…
…in my pants.
In that case, yes… its quite similar to that but its more of a sudden tense and release rather than tensing for a long time to lift things. Hope that makes sense.

My original post asks if anyone has come across it. If not, then don’t worry. I’m not about to go into useless debates based on inexperience.
IFF - why did you move my post? It comes from a traditional chinese martial arts called Mian Chuan and possibly others. Why move it to YMAS?
I’ve come across it!
Internal pressure is one of the direct physical side effects from practicing what I refer to as “wet burrito style”.
Trust me, that shit is t3h r34L d34dly!

Simple, you have a history of drawing things out and becoming angry. Instead of naming the style, in your first post, you play twenty questions.
You don’t name it until, I move your thread into YMAS.

Bdang, if you wanted this post to be taken seriously maybe you should consider the form:
Has anyone come across the Yang Mian style before? It aims to build “internal pressure”. By this I mean (insert definition of whatever the fuck you mean). This is done by a variety of specially designed exercises such as (names and descriptions). This results in (insert motherfucking point). How do other styles deal with (whatever the fuck “internal pressure” is purported to deal with)?
Thanks
Of course, this assumes that you wish both to be clearly understood and to make a point. Based on past experience, all you want is to make cryptic non sequiteurs then accuse everyone else of ignorance.

I didnt know to post in the traditional martial arts forum I had to name a style? I don’t see other posts in that section having the same issue.
In my original post I ask if anyone came across any kung fu systems which incorporated this type of training, hence I placed it in the kung fu section.
Does this make sense?

I already did! My deadly Wet Burrito style!
You dare to challenge my “internal pressure”?
