This does highlight, however, the issue of fighters’ character. Some MMA fans are attracted to fighters who are long on “attitude” and short on honor, but many of us still believe that martial virtues are an important part of the martial arts, and that professional fighters should comport themselves with integrity. Integrity is a core component of honor, and Silva’s actions represent a violation of this component. And now things might get a little worse for everyone.

I would say I’m sorry, but, you being a Christian psychologist, I’m sure you’d be able to divine that I was lying.
I apologise for any offense that I caused. There was no intended homophobic component to my comment. In truth, my reference to a Freudian interpretation of the situation centered around Freud’s idea that men are motivated to prove their masculinity as an attempt to counteract castration anxiety ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castration_anxiety ) , not as an attempt to affirm a heterosexual orientation. It was a small-penis joke, not a sexual orientation joke.
My main point was Silva’s lack of integrity creating potentially-embarrasing repercussions for those who committed no offense.

Yes, I realize you were making a size joke rather than being overtly homophobic. Pardon me for painting you with the wrong brush. I’m tired of the MMA (as well as martial arts in general) stereotype that all fighters get into fighting because they’re compensating for their small penis or their violent past. Heaven forbid someone could enjoy training MMA merely because they like it as a sport.
If you are a psychologist, you know how erroneous generalizations can often be.
