Hello guys, I am looking for a good training camp in China, I plan to stay at least 2 years, I have seen many camps on the internet, some reviews are bad so I would like to know if any of you know/recommend about any camp that is serious and train real kung fu full time.

I would like to learn Kung fu basically for self-defense/street fighting, I see that Sanda and Mantis seem to be for this purpose.

Thanks
May I ask how you intend to support yourself for two years in China? Yeah, saved money will take you so far but there are other considerations to be made.

Have you done any research into living in China? The various cultures? Visa application? A search of the State Department (assuming you’re in the US) recommendations and warnings?

disclaimer

I don’t know squat about kung fu. Do know China.

Just recommend the school, I have diplomatic visa to China (not to thailand) and enough funds. Just want to know the quality!

Ok, so if you are going to be anywhere near Shanghai I recommend the JX Fight club. Outside of that, good luck.
What do you think of this one? http://www.learnmartialartsinchina.com/
That place is sketchy as hell!! Looks like they are training in an alley behind a dorm or something. Do no go to that place.

What are your goals? I’m pretty sure you would get more out of training in America with the people in this thread than you would in that place.
Well, I am looking for a training camp with accomodation and food, I have searched thailand as well but visa things are much more complicated; basically I want to live and train in another country.
I am brown belt in Judo, should be black belt 3rd rank but a Tai-otoshi on me ruined my knee years ago.
I may have been remiss in suggesting Chen Village, although I suppose you could just do the “healthy” tai chi stuff instead of learning the combative stuff. A ruined knee from judo (I feel your pain, really, I do) might make their style of wrestling too much for you. Because they actually grapple full speed/force, like we do in Judo.

Go to one of these places:

Hit or miss according to friends. Since you already applied for and received the diplomatic visa, here’s you a link from a travel site. I’m guessing you’ve never been there. My questions were to poke my head in periodically to maybe give some insight into quality of life, safety, big city vs rural, etc. China’s a big and very diverse place.

Go find a Sanda - Sanshou or similar school if you want to learn to fight. Wanna go play culture warrior, fine. Know what you’re getting into other than the instruction itself.

I cant get to find a training camp in Chen village, I dont care about cultural shock or something, what I am looking for is a camp with accomodation and food, simple

I found this one, looks better than the previous camp I listed, and with many reviews https://www.chineseshaolins.com/, what do you think?

What do you want to learn from “kung fu” ? What do you think “kung fu” is ?

You didn’t look very hard.

That is why I am asking here, and yes I have emailed many schools in china… and I am looking for kung fu but basically kung fu for self-defense/street fight!

If you dont know any information, thanks, just close the thread.

LOL, well, good luck in your quest. Your judo brown belt is better than 99% of kung fu out there. Even with a bad knee.

Why is this thread still in MABS?
