Wow…just…wow. This thread is so full of lulz i can hardly stand it. I didn’t read the whole thing, but i did read quite a bit of it, and i have to say this Steven Oliver fellow seems like quite the douche. Nothing and i mean NOTHING pisses me off more, then some scam artist giving martial arts a bad name, especially one as pretentious as this guy is coming off. He’s completely and 100% aware of what he’s done and he doesn’t care at all.
I’ve watched quite a few videos online from him, every single one of them has talked about your martial arts business, not a single one of them has talked about the actual martial arts. Even the “skill sets that professional martial arts teachers need” video simply talked about marketing and selling, i mean listen to this crap guys:
YouTube- Stephen Oliver Skill Sets that Professional Martial Arts Teachers Need
there’s a ton of other videos just like this one too.
You speak of 305815805890 different times in a martial artists journey that they should be “sold to”, times that they should have to pay a new fee just to continue learning what they were already learning, except now they need to pay an ADDITIONAL set of times just to retain the same info. At what point and time do you preach to them about WHAT they’re learning? You said in an earlier post that your “comprehensive blackbelt” program for your instructors takes 3 and 1/2 years? That right there leads me to believe that only do you teach the americanized and slaughtered version of what people like to call TKD, but that your black belts don’t have a flying fucking clue what they’re doing.
Steven i’m curious, do you even KNOW a martial art? I know you call yourself a martial artist, but you spend so much time scamming people that i highly doubt you have time to practice anything.
My sensei charges the following:
70 dollars a month (used to be 60), a 1 time gi investment (unless somethign happens where you need a new one or you outgrow your old one), a nominal fee for testing and belts (which come up at most, every 8 months, usually closer to a year inbetween each, since unlike you, we actually like our students to know what the fuck they’re doing), and occasionally if Fumio Demura visits us (who is an infinitely more influencial and important figure then you Steven), he takes up a small donation to compensate him for his time traveling here and the dinner we usually take him out to afterwords.
I have spent a fraction of the cost of what you charge your “students”, and i guarantee you what i’ve learned for that fraction of a cost, would serve me better then any of the rubbish you’re instilling in them. Infact i’d be sufficed to say that the worst green belt in my school would likely murder the best high brown belt you have. I say this again, because there’s no way you’re actually teaching this individuals anything, you’re spending far too much time figuring out how to scam them out of money then to perfect your own martial training and give them anything of benefit to work with.
Fuck you and your worthless mc dojo, you are a bedsore on the ass of martial arts and should be scrapped off with much prejudice.
Btw guys, here is a link to one of his “students” who has videos uploaded of various things he’s done. He is a 10 year old black belt…ya…

he’s ok for a…10 year old…i guess. But imo he’s a prime example of why kids shouldn’t be given blackbelts, especially not TEN FREAKING YEARS OLD.
