Maybe they meant Shoto Ryu? All systems are made up! You may not have made it up, but someone did. Besides, there are no new original ideas on fighting. Just recyled one’s applied to modern situations.

Can they perform skills that you don’t have? Are the students happy?

Shotokan is a training location. It was adopted as a style name, which Funakoshi said was improper (Karate Do Kyohan).
Maybe they meant Shoto Ryu?
Maybe you should have read the rest of the thread, particularly the bit where he said they train in East London, with Egyptians.

I was a member of Juko Kai in the 90’s attended Dan Clinics and other training with Sacharnowski. I have trained with some really top notch instructors, but this man was good. He was nice and gental until it came time to perform, and he was rough.

What was disappointing was this guy was a top notch Martial Artist, but he could not resist selling snake oil. I know for a fact that Shian Toma awarded him a 9th Dan in Shorin Ryu and Tiode. He did not need to sell anything but his skill. For every new student he gained by making outrages claims, he lost whole entire dojos like mine.

What is really sad is that I have attended siminars with world renowned martial arts instructors such as, Bill Wallace, Joe Lewis, etc. and none of them could hold a candle to Sacharnowski’s knowlege.

Sometimes I wish I could have stayed and learned what I could and ignored the rest, but I was just unable to at the time.

Funny thing is, the more 8th Dan and up people I meet; they all appear to have a God complex, and everyone but their close associates are fakes, or not as good.

That is salesmanship,

PS. The Combat Ki works. I have broken ribs on people with a reverse punch, and these guys figured out a way to absorp a pretty good punch to the throat.

I like fallacies.

O’ Sensei Porter passed away in the last year. Nishioka(spelling ?) wrote a really nice article for him.

When I speak of O’Sensei I am torn. Some things I really liked and other things I did not.

Funny thing what I saw is if something benifitted me I liked it, but when it did not I didn’t. Sounds like most of us. I liked it when he reviewed my file and when I met the time of a promotions he reminded me, and offered to promote me. It did not bother me because I was working out 6 days a week and knew that I deserved it. But, when he offered it to my students who had been out of the dojo not working out, well that was another story.

I current life member of USMA, but I have taught for others and do not currently run my own school so I do not use their services.

Now it is time to talk truth about our own linage? Before you get too upset I admire all the people I am about to name! But, questions should be asked! Should anyone throw stone?

Who promoted Kano (KodoKan) to 10th Dan in his twenties? (Maybe the Botukukai?) Who gave them the authority?

Who Promoted General HI (ITF) to 9th Dan Tae Kwon Do? The KTA? Whow gave them the athority?

How did any of the JKA Black Belts get above 5th Dan? Funakoshi never promoted anyone over 5th Dan according to the Shotokai or the SKA. How does the Shotokai and the SKA promote to 5th Dan if they are the same rank?

Who promoted the Gracies to 10th Dan in BJJ?

What about Un Yung Kim’s 10th Dan from the Kukkiwan?

Who promoted Jhoon Rhee to 10th Dan?

Who promoted Joe Lewis to 10th Dan?

Who promoted Bill Wallace to 10th Dan?

Next complaint I hear is how can someone promote someone in a different style than they teach?

Look at all the Okinawan 10th Dan’s that have their own style? They were acknowledged by someone that was not the founder of their style.

What do they all have in common? They formed or helped form an associtation or Corproration and they or the group issued them a title to have a chain of command. You or I can do the same thing if we file a corporation, whether it has one member president or 5 million members, such as the Kukkiwon.

My point? Your rank is only good for marketing your business. You can perform or not!

Some like Dodges and some like Audi’s!

Oh, if you are going to bump old threads, come up with better arguments. Oh and please stop trolling. Did, you really raise the tired “OMG all systems blah blah blah.”

Sorry. I did not know responding to old post was considered a violation.

Yes, I did bring it up, because it is always in the back ground of the posters discussion.

I am not a my style is better that your style guy. I have trained with enough different sytems to know they all have flaws. It boils down to the fighter! Of course I know that you know that.

But is there really anything original to talk about?

Is so and so a good instructor? He is a McDojo! I hate hime! He is the greatest Master of all times!

Yes I have heard it all! But for us Noobies, we just want to break in; or why is there a need for this site.

???

Responding to an old post is not a violation as I understand it, only responding with no new ideas/information to add is, which you did.

Your second point I quoted is technically true but some systems repeatedly put out quality fighters on a regular basis while others put out nothing and hide behind bullshit reasons why they dont.

And in response to your third point, this site exists because some people make up bullshit and its about damn time they got called out on it.

False I am a shit fighter, yet the skill set and the method I have trained it in makes me fairly lethal vs a lot of good fighters. Lets say I face off against someone with zero ground game and no take down defense. They can be the ultimate super K1 champion and all of a sudden they are now in danger of being killed by a shitty fighter that is OK at what he does.

See the system has something to do with it.

I am far from a gifted athlete or fighter, I have zero natural talent for grappling. Yet I improve every time I get on the mat because of the training method. I develop timing and the use of technique through alive training. I train in something that makes a strength difference largely irrelevant through the use of leverage and proper placement of weight. All these factors are factors of the Style more so than the fighter.

Anyone who walks through the door of the gym I train at is going to be competent if they keep showing up and put forth a reasonable effort while there. This can not be said for all styles or hell even most.
Sorry. I did not know responding to old post was considered a violation.
In the area you posted yes.

No, it is not.

Yes, they all have flaws, no it doesn’t just boil down to the fighter.

But is there really anything original to talk about?
Yes.

Is so and so a good instructor? He is a McDojo! I hate hime! He is the greatest Master of all times!
I can’t help how you limit your thinking.

How do these techniques work? Is this styles similar to that one? If I train X amount of weeks, what type of progress can I make? I train “style x” what style will compliment it? Have you had experience with this teacher? Is this seminar worth the money?

Do I need to continue?

Yes I have heard it all! But for us Noobies, we just want to break in; or why is there a need for this site.

???
No, you haven’t heard it all.

You guys are really patient.

Oh and here is a nugget that tells me you haven’t heard it all:

Who promoted Kano (KodoKan) to 10th Dan in his twenties? (Maybe the Botukukai?) Who gave them the authority?

Source this for us. I have heard he held Black belt rank and NEVER awarded himself anything higher. Eventually, he started ranking his STUDENTS to 10th Dan.

Dude he was the worlds 1st black belt so who gave him that huh huh…

Yeah silly fucking argument.
Pretty freaking cool to see that he doesn’t show up on the list of 10th dans I never knew that thanks for point it out. I respect the man even more now.

The most you hear or read was that he was awarded 12th or 10th Dan AFTER his death. Yep, that’s what makes him a badass.

Were you a training member with a group or did you just attend seminars and pay for certification? I ask because you place him higher in knowledge than many much more talented actual fighters. RS is a liar and outright fraud.

Picture related…

He was nice and gental until it came time to perform, and he was rough.

There are many men like this

At first its all flowers and chocolates, ‘I realy respect you as a person’, until they get you in the sack, then its all, ‘TAKE IT IN THE ARSE BITCH!!!111’
In the area you posted yes.
Sorry about the area!
No, it is not.
Pretty much from what I have read, but just maybe the area.

Yes, they all have flaws, no it doesn’t just boil down to the fighter.
You are fooling yourself, or have been drinking the cool aid! If it did not boil down to the fighter then no one would ever win! Size and ability matters with equal training.

Yes.
I can’t help how you limit your thinking.
Yep, all this is new territory!

How do these techniques work? Is this styles similar to that one? If I train X amount of weeks, what type of progress can I make? I train “style x” what style will compliment it? Have you had experience with this teacher? Is this seminar worth the money?
Yep, I helped a few off the floor with those great credentials! People learn differently and what you feel is bull s, someone else may respond to.

Do I need to continue?
Keep drinking the cool aid!
No, you haven’t heard it all.
Your probably correct, but I have heard and rolled my eyes at my fair share!

Did you get an orgazim from your response? Do you feel bigger, stronger, wiser?

Thanks for make my point. It is all made up! He earned his respect by his actions!

He had skill! Seminars! Certifications were optional. I opted out. No Charge for my 3rd Dan; $50 dollars for 4th Dan. I returned all ranks when I resigned.

I said the man had skills and did not have to sell snake oil. That was the sad part! If he would have stuck to his skills and had not gotten into the crap, he would not have lost respect.
Thanks for make my point. It is all made up! He earned his respect by his actions!
Yes, ignore what you got wrong to crow. Cheerleaders aren’t proof.
