Degrees, belt ranks, and tags are for the weak of mind.
Do you oppose Trump, or give him press?
Do you oppose the politicization of children deaths, or do you do the same?
Do you debate in the same style of Trump, or do you set a different example?
Again, morally, I claim no higher ground.
Because, my own evil in never so impersonal nor as light hearted as the tappings on a keyboard.
But, if I may, as true and primeval scum of a lower and more primal nature, point out, I seem to notice that Trump and his critics share an almost identical keyboard play book.

Agreed and the advertising of said degrees is only done by those of weak ego.
Agreed and the advertising of said degrees is only done by those of weak ego.
Quite the contrary, the receivers of such advertisements often buy more when degrees are present.
So, you would be partially correct, instead of wholly wrong, if you had said that only those who are easily impressed put undo weight on degrees, instead of rational weightings.
Also, reusing a common login that one was originally assigned during an employment,
as a convenient habit that requires one to remember less logins is not advertising a degree,
but merely a sign that one is seeking to be lazy with the number of login ids one has across various sites that requires one to login.
Especially when one’s first and last name are nearly as common as John Smith, and the briefer logins from that name combination are often already taken on the various sites one is asked to create a login id.
The great thing about a login id is that it can usually be easily changed, but stupid takes more work to correct, if it can be corrected at all.

When the names change back this is going to be even funnier!
What do you think WFMurphyPhD?

Most active posters here are not “anon”. You’re barking up the wrong tree here.

In Murphy’s defense he didnt ask for his blackbelt tag. Sub just gave it to him after verifying his identity.
I was pretty sure he was a faker when he first started posting. I dont think that now.
I chose my screen name out of idle habit, not boastfulness.
I’ll let the jury decide that one.
Regarding your other claim, most posters on Bullshido do not reveal their identity, many of them deliberately.
Some even make fake accounts complete with fake personas.
You added the word “active” as a hedge, but even so, some active or frequent posters are anonymous, and some are not.
Really? Who? Pretty much every poster that comes to mind is somehow linked to others or have showed up at a throwdown (back when that was a thing) or something else which gives up their anonimity.
Even Wabbit (when he’s not having one of his schizo episodes) is publicly linked to at least one other poster.
In Murphy’s defense he didnt ask for his blackbelt tag. Sub just gave it to him after verifying his identity.
That could be true, I don’t recall. At any rate, Bill is welcome to ask me to remove the tag, or request a new moniker for when I undo xmas names, tonight (or, also, once annually).
I’ll let the jury decide that one.
What jury? For what?
Now I am inclined to go the other direction just to make the point for the slow members of the crowd.
If I choose to put PhD after my name, that is entirely appropriate, and sometimes would be inappropriate not to depending on the circumstance.
Just because I make critical comments about people over weighting things like degrees or belt ranks, does not mean that I do not have them, or that any notice or claim I make that I have them would be false, nor even a boast.
This would be no different than including my middle initial with my name, or mentioning that I have artificial hips, if I choose to do so.

Most people who have made at least one post do not reveal their identity.
This is easily quantified.
Rub the bottle containing Sub, make a wish, and see if he will grant you the answer to the question of how many people on Bullshido have made at least one post.
Then you can start counting how many people are known to have revealed their identity and see if it equals or exceeds half that number.
I doubt it will, and we can make a bet on it, if you wish, with the loser making a $100 donation to the Make A Wish and presenting evidence to Sub of the donation having been made.

Defensive today? I’m only ribbing you a little. You know as well as anyone that people who introduce themselves with their achievements (your monniker is the first thing I see) are often full of themselves.

Now you’re just being asinine. As you said, I made a hedge of “active” posters only. Posting once does not make you an active poster. I consider active, anyone who I’ve seen converse in a few threads in the last year or so. Let’s say, made +100 posts last year or so, or more precisely, anyone who comes to mind.
The majority of those, have posted pictures of themselves, met up with others, have others on their social meida, etc.
What I’m getting at is: “Laugh all you want, at least I don’t hide behind a fake screen name.” this doesn’t make you special here, and " Unlike most people on the board, who are brave so long as they are hiding their identity." is false.
Also, if I want to make a donation, I do it without making dumb bets.

The irony I point out is that I had chose a login id of “fruity pebbles” or “spiderman” rather than one that is not only my real name, but my real professional name, that would have not drawn any criticism from the comic book crowd.
God forbid someone simply be a grown up rather than make a special effort to be a goofball.

As I stated the majority of people who have made at least one post, or more, on this site do not reveal their identity.
As I also said, some of the active posters stay anonymous and some don’t.
However, I if I choose to use my real professional name as my screen name, I see no reason that is somehow more ridiculous or more pretentious than a made up screen name.
And there is a difference between those who make comments and stand behind them with their real identity and those that make comments and hide behind a fake or anonymous moniker.

Betting makes everything more fun.
You don’t have to bet if you don’t like to, but I enjoy making bets with monetary hooks, just as I enjoy whiskey, and a fine cigar.
