sparring is the most important aspect that wing chun is lacking, i know for a fact that too much emphasis is placed on chi-sau drills- but what i have my students do is chi-sau and i have them spar- it may not look like a choreographed kung fu movie but the techniques and applications are there. i teach my students to fight from all positions including the ground. wing chun stresses close quarter combat- - elbow strikes to the throat- to the face and spinal cord - in all -out combat there are no rules. . my students have to fight from being cornered in a room, and to fight theirselves out from there faciing at least 3-5 opponets- then i have them on the ground facing up or face down surrounded by 4 opponents facing in the the same manner and on my command they must get up- or fight from what ever position they find themselves in. we train in the elements wether it is 103 degrees outside or in the rain- we train wing chun in that manner.

the many hours of training will eventually be of great help in sparring. training in the most simple techniques will result in your mind and body to respond with out you having to think what to do. later the more complex techniques trained in will be programmed into your human computer , and the techniques will respond the same way. ther are no superior martial art styles - only superior martial artists, because they train in the most realistic conditions with out the theories of some so-called master of almightyness of some wing chun style so modified that it has made wing chun a disrespected sissy martial art- true wing chun is no laughing matter .
