An effective strike to get your opponent to bend or topple. Also good for set up but Ive yet to win or see another win due to a pelvis strike of any kind.
Watched this last night, they were striking to the centreline, I think it was a palm strike. Rather than break any bones they were trying to seperate it from the ligament where it joined at the front of the pelvis (from what I could see with my zero medical knowledge).
They used one of those mythbuster dummies made out of that ballistic gel stuff that replicates the density of flesh, and had a skeletal model inside.
They dissected it with a scapel afterwards and seemed quite pleased with themselves.
Of course it’s not what I would call a ressisting opponant.
