How to train for iron fists?

Even the mighty Mas Oyama had ill-effects in his late because of all the breaking he did.

Arthritis? Yes, people have been breaking stuff with their hands for a long time…but that stuff has also been breaking people’s hands for a long time.

When you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.

Yeah, I did ask you, because training for me includes very little breaking. I don’t go out and break concrete all day, several days a week, or even once a month. I spend time working the heavy bag, lifting weights, training TKD, and training my break motions. And no, I didn’t ask you to explain “how,” I asked you to explain the damage itself, in an effort to see if you were referring to something that I had not considered. When you use the phrase “serious long-term damage” it sounds like you are being sensationalist.

If you know what you are doing, then why are you posting here and not teaching this amazing skill to others.

As you cannot, and have no clue as its obvious.

Really…

Yeah, we all know who is being a sensationalist. It isn’t amp.

One word: Arthritis.

Oh yeah, breaking competitions have nothing to do with Iron Palm training. What you have described is basic conditioning not Irom Palm training.

Funny, original poster never mentioned anything about Iron Palm. He asked about getting tough hands. And I replied to that. I never claimed to know Iron Palm, I claimed that I did not recieve any instruction on how to break things. It was Amp that said training Iron Palm or anything similar was dangerous without an instructor.

As for being sensationalist… it’s not sensationalism if you’ve seen it and done it, now is it? I’ve seen a white belt with no real experience punch through a board simply because he didn’t hesitate. His form was sloppy, his aim was off-center, and he snapped it just because he hit it as hard as he could. Quite sensational, huh?

I’ve posted my first two breaking videos, the first two times I ever broke concrete, in my introduction thread. So, I have driven my arm through stacks of concrete. Sensationalist?

Thanks for deleting the first part of the sentence about knowing what I am doing, It Is Fake?? Obviously, if I can break it, I know how to break it.

Now, I asked for an explaination because Amp said “you can do some serious long-term damage.” Well… like what? Is it anything besides the obvious? I still have recieved no answer about this. Arthritis, I have long assumed, was a fairly obvious possibility.

As for Dale, exactly what can I not do? Make some sense man, being able to do something means that I have to be out teaching it and cannot talk about it on the internet? Seriously, do you actually think before you hit Submit Reply?

Edit: Here’s the link to the thread with the videos, then. http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=33957

Even these guys say that that shit can hurt you in the long run. http://goinside.com/00/6/qigong.html

The obvious being long-term nerve, bone, circulation and tissue damage?

Nope, you’ve got the big ones covered.

Read the thread title. That is what the post was about. Iron Fist/Iron Palm. Many people start their topic in the title and then ask the question.

Alright, just checking. Glad there aren’t any surprises waiting for me.

Let’s look at the facts. The poster is a new guy whose style is TKD. At no point in his post does he mention wanting to learn anything stylistic, instead he asks for ways to break very hard things with his hands and generally toughen them. Now, is it a stretch to assume that he put Iron Fist in topic line but in actuality has no interest in learning Iron Fist/Iron Palm, but rather just toughening his hands and breaking shit, as his first post claims? I mean, seriously, the guy asked for ways to train. That’d be like me asking for ways to toughen my shins and you assuming that I wanted to teach myself MT.
