I am a boxer, and I had joined this site to find guys for controlled sparring in my area. This is pretty much devoted to MMA from what I can se, so I guess I made a mistake. But I see no unsubscription options – is this the Hotel California?
please advise!
Mitch
Before you just leave, try this forum.
Advanced Striking Discussion Forum - Muay Thai, Boxing, etc. - No BS Martial Arts
It is for striking arts.
OK, thanks. Will check it out.

Time for a quick lesson in terminology:
You are currently on a site named Bullshido.
This site has several forums.
Inside these forums are multiple threads - like the one you just created.
This forum is for discussing fight sport (presumably including boxing) events and leagues.
The appropriate forum for creating this thread in would have been Bullshido Support Forum.
The appropriate forum for looking for sparring partners… well, I’d have started in Newbietown and gone forward from there.
Now, in terms of unsubscribing:
When you post or reply in a thread, by default, you are subscribed to it. This allows you to keep track of which threads you’ve posted in and whether people have replied to your posts.
By default, when you are subscribed to a thread, you receive e-mails when someone posts in it.
If you do not want to be subscribed to threads automatically, go to “User Control Panel” -> “Edit Options” -> “Default Thread Subscription Mode” and select “Do not subscribe”.
If you want to be subscribed to threads automatically but do not want to receive e-mail about them, go to the same place and select “No email notification”.
To unsubscribe from a thread that you are currently subscribed to, go to the “User Control Panel”, click on “Subscriptions”, find the thread in question, and click “Unsubscribe”.
Note that subscription refers only to threads. The site-wide equivalent would be having one’s account deleted, but I don’t think they do that here.
Also check out the “Throwdown” forum on bullshido.net. There is a large number of members from across the world who meet up for friendly sparring sessions.
You could also check out this sub forum
http://www.bullshido.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=31
It’s where people meet up for sparring matches, perhaps you could find a like minded boxer?
Actually, this forum used to be “iCompete” which was a third party board that was dedicated towards the promotion of fighting events, and the finding of new talent by upstart promoters.
Seems reasonable.
Good to know?
Well, I think that the OP may have been confused by being redirected to the MMA subforum by an old link that someone had up for the old forum, which was “looking for fighters.”
I flipped a coin on this one. Fortunately for you, you’re not getting a temp ban for starting this thread in the wrong forum.
Deporting to Trollshido.
Thanks, guys. I have tried these options, and now have simply joined a new boxing gym in Boston where i get regular sparring with conventional boxers. you have all been very helpful, but this site is really geared more toward ufc and mma, and i was mistaken when i joined.

You have been told a couple of times that it is not true, and you have had ample time to find out there are posters here who box. But whatever.
Good bye.
We’re actually geared more to fighting in any and all forms. There are boxing-specific sites out there if that’s what you want, for sporting reasons. Just keep in mind that you’re only learning maybe 25% of how to actually fight outside the ring.
I am a middle-aged guy who is now boxing to stay in shape – in my 20s I made it to the New England GGs semi-finals both at 135 and 147, and in my 40s I was a white collar champ. I am not looking for combat outside the ring, although in my youth I acquitted myself nicely there. despite the rudeness and borderline idiocy of “Teh El Macho” I have NOT had any luck finding what I am looking for here. For those of you who were polite and informative, let me say thank you. If there are in fact conventional boxers here, despite Teh El Macho, they are keeping themselves well hidden.
Having found the sparring I am looking for in boston, and some in Lowell, MA as well, this will be my last visit to this rather puerile site.
You couldn’t hit your way out of a puerile wet paper bag… you are obviously not worthy of a ban, or leaving here for that matter. You can’t leave till you have earned it!!!
I’m sure there are plenty of Boston-area Bullies who’d be very willing to trade punches with you should you ever be interested.

Good riddance to bad garbage.
Awww, sorry I hurt your feelings.
Let me ask you a question. Since you joined on june 2008, what exactly did you do to find a poster that does boxing (or who wanted to spar under boxing rules) in Boston?
Did you ever created a thread asking for fellow posters who wanted to box? Did you ever made a thread named “any fellow boxers in or within driving distance of Boston”? Did you ever even introduce yourself in newbietown saying something like “hi! I’m a boxer in Boston, and I’m looking for sparring partners. Anyone interested?” or something like that.
Did. You. Ever. Do. That?
Don’t. Be. Puerile.
Wow, I’m slow today and give people too much benefit of doubt. This is a pretty obvious troll-job trying to bait someone from here for another no-show.
