So, I’ve decided I want to try to compete MMA. Been doing stand up styles for a while - Boxing, Muy Thai, etc. I don’t have much grappling and I’m wondering what anybody on here thinks of Silat for grappling purposes.
There’s a school in my area that teaches a form of Silat that mostly focuses on the take-downs and ground fighting elements of the style. Does anybody have an opinion on whether or not this is effective and would it translate to competitive fighting? Or would I be better off to go with a more traditionally competitive style like Wrestling or BJJ?
