So far I have learned that it is a type/style of Kung Fu, that it’s from Southern China, and that it only has 2 katas. There’s some chap in Southern California teaching it, but I was looking for a more purely Chinese point of view about it. That chap teaches at least 4 or 5 different “arts” from different countries, and I’m always afraid things get mixed together in that kind of situation. Basically, I’m just trying to understand why I keep hearing how unique it is. Does anyone know what gives it that reputation? I know it’s rare in general, but especially outside China. Does anyone know anything about it? Let’s start a thread if you do. :love2:
Isshin Ryu, Combat judo, some forms of escrima? Sounds like someone who was a student of Aj Advincula. I can vouch that Aj Advincula is a no nonsense teacher and is a very good one at that. A guy who posts on Shaolin Wolf by the name of ZenCowboy knows this style (well all the ones I listed) and he explains hindiani asa very exeptional style, very realistic to. It teaches you how to stand in a passive ready stance but turn vicious when you need.
Yah, that’s the chap, Advincula. So you are familiar with him are you? What is your experience with him. He’s the only “Master” teacher in the US. (THough some of his students teach now one or two places around the country I hear). It’s in San Diego, and I’m in Pasadena area (L.A.), and it would be a long drive, but I’m actually thinking about going down there and checking it out. I’m very curious.
I only know through word of mouth. It wouldn’t be hard to find is biography. He is highly acclaimed through blackbelt magazine aswell.
Zen cowboy (who was a military officer) went to okinawa and studied the real thing with real masters, but he learned more in ten minutes with Advincula than what he learned in ten years from the other masters.
I train Hindiandi. My teacher was Sensei Advincula’s top Hindiandi student before he died. I will post a link to a video after my fifth post as per the requirements of this list.
