He’s “breaking boards and barriers” for a special cause.
Nine-year-old Eamonn Dwyer, going into fourth grade at Bayonne’s Horace Mann School, is spearheading a campaign “to raise money for scholarships and fun trips for kids who can’t afford it.”
The scholarships will underwrite tuition fees for martial arts lessons offered by the not-for-profit New Jersey Tae Kwon Do For Youth Foundation, according to his dad, Richard Dwyer.
Eamonn, a state Tae Kwon Do champ and a U.S. Grand Prix National yellow belt champ, both in his age category, said he’ll break 10 boards on Saturday and he’s asking folks to pledge money for each board he smashes. “He’s already raised $3,000,” Eamonn’s father said. Anyone wishing to help may send checks, payable to the foundation, in care of Eamonn Dwyer, 35 W. 38th St., Bayonne, N.J. 07002[/i]
