I’ve actually met someone who specialized in making bricks and wooden boards made for martial arts events. They are structurally designed to break easily. In addition to having weak points the bricks are formed with a particularly high content of sand and the wooden boards are baked in an oven to become more brittle. Sorry if this is old news.

where does the straw and the big bad wolf fit in?
I think the straw had some kind of fungus problem and the wolf died from smoking it.
