Im not sure if every discussion about female fighters de-evolves into this crap. Definetly not on this website. Both Gina and Tonya are very respected fighters.
However I do think its newsworthy to see two top fighters cuddling together. If this was Wandy and Rampage laying in bed together at a party I think it would be even more newsworthy because of the double standard in many circles that being a gay female is “hot” but being a gay male shows a lack of masculinity.

You’re right. Discussion of male fighters typically does not devolve into extended analysis of fuckability.
Women have a hard enough time as it is getting recognition in sports. This is particularly true in combat sports. And even truer still in MMA, which is so saturated with “drink jager/fuck stripper”-type marketing.
I wince every time I see cheesecake pictures of olympic atheletes or Danica Patrick because men don’t need to trade on their sexuality in order to get noticed. It takes the discussion away from their hard work and abilities and turns it into an adolescent peep show. If our mission is to fight bullshit in the martial arts, I would consider taking on the “that’s what she said” nonsense a high priority. All women deserve better than that.
The appropriate response for either case should be “me no care.” Just because a number of posters deviate from the appropriate response and decide to go all ZOMG!!! HAWT LESBOS or YUCK GAYZ!! that doesn’t mean it should be norm dude.
