ghetto guy wanted to use my cellphone

What would you do if some random ghetto guy came up to you and asked to use your cellphone? Is this some sort of scam? It’s happened to me more than once =\

I went to see Transformers 2 earlier tonight. It was alright (GIVE ME YO FACE!) and Megan Fox was hottttttt. Anyways, when the movie let out, I was walking with a couple of people back to the parking garage to get in the car. This ghetto-ass guy in his long T-shirt came up and said “yo, can i use yo cellphone? i gotta make a real important phone call. ill give you money.”

What do you think would’ve happened had I given him my phone? =]
Whats so important of a phone call that he can’t walk 20 feet to a pay phone and call?

Anyone had this happen before? Like I said, it’s happened more than once and always with ghetto “thugs”. It happened once after I got out of a late hockey game for my school, once after a Ravens game in Baltimore, and once after work in Baltimore.

what does this have to do with liqueur loot and ladies?

If anyone besides a little old lady or a beautiful woman asked me to use my cellphone I would say no. Ghetto, white trash, whatever. Especially a situation like in a parking garage.

Give him 2 quarters and tell him to use a payphone.

Curious, what did you end up doing?

can it be loot?
i didnt know where else to put it =\

i just said nah i dont have one of those things and walked away. he went over to my friend who’s up from the citadel and asked. my friend just started at him like he was an alien til he walked away. it was pretty funny =]
yeah, nothing too exciting.

it wouldve been great had he tried to do something stupid. he was practically surrounded by 5 guys who do different MAs =]

is this common or something? i figured id ask since a few of you guys are bouncers or police and whatnot.

Hahahha. Maybe he was telling the truth.

But, here in Joburg, when someone asks you for your phone like that they normally have the intention of taking your shit. If it’s just one guy and you get to say no, very lucky. Here it would be when you are walking alone somewhere and a car packed full of thugs stops next to you. First thing they often do is ask the time ( some people check time on their phone, which gives away that you have one ), then they ask to use it and promise to give it right back. At this point you are normally well aware of what is happening, but have to play along or potentially die for a phone. So you play along, give them the phone.

If you are dumb enough to ask for it back, they are like “what phone ? WTF are you talking about ?! You accusing me of stealing motherfucker ?!!?!”.

Anyways, it’s a very common phone scam here. Never heard of just one guy doing it though. He may have been for real.

Four possibilities.

He needed to borrow your phone.

He was going to take it and run.

He was going to wait for you to be distracted reaching for it and then hit you.

He was going to get Mr Scott to beam you guys up and take you on a wild adventure involving green skinned women and romulan ale. Then take your phone and run away.

It was for a drug deal.

It was for a drug deal.

Also very possible.

What would Phil do?

Street Sword FTW!

yeah, i was actually thinking that.

orrrrrrrr how about he had some 900 number set up thatd charge $80 a minute or one of those “joke a day” texts at $100 a text or some bullshit.

Maybe he thought your cell phone was a Decepticon.

That wasnt smart, random street violence and any street violence can happen from some one looking at some one “wrong” its like your friend was asking for the guy to do something stupid, he could of politely said something like “nah man” or “my phone is minutes” or what ever excuse…
instead of gawking at him like he is a talking dog.

YEAH! wouldnt be awsome if he pulled a gun or knife out and killed or fataly injured one of u? that would be very awsome indeed (sarcasam).

Am I the only one seeing something wrong with the this guys posts??

but yeah this sort of stuff is actually common and random. It can happen to any1 u know…always be caustion when it comes to the streets.

I had something similar happen to me the other day too - street guy, wearing cutoff shorts, flipflops and no shirt, absolutely filthy, oh and his left arm was amputated just below the elbow.

“Hey, can I borrow your cell phone? I need to make a call.”

He wasn’t bothered that I didn’t have one, just went on to asking the next guy, and the guy after that. All I could think was, who the hell is this guy going to call?
